Mrs. Sagat Says...

Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

I am filled with gratitude and joy to return to our school community following my maternity leave. This has been a special season for my family, and I am deeply thankful for the prayers, support, and kindness you have shown during this time. Being welcomed back by so many smiles and hugs from students reminds me why St. Alphonsus is such a special place.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Mrs. Schermetzler, who so capably served as interim principal in my absence. Her steady leadership, care for our students, and commitment to our mission ensured that our school continued to thrive. We are truly blessed by her dedication!

We are already beginning to prepare for an exciting year ahead. I am eager to continue building on the foundation that makes our school such a faith-filled and nurturing place for our students.

I warmly invite you to join us for our State of the School event on May 13th at 6:30pm. This will be a wonderful opportunity to reflect on this year’s accomplishments and share our vision for the future.

Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and commitment to our school community. It is a blessing to serve alongside you.

A few other reminders this week:

  • We have a couple of uniform code reminders for you below, mainly about smart watches and skirt & shorts length for students. Please take a look below and you can also see our policies in our family handbook on our website
  • Maycember is coming! There are always lots of fun events & field trips planned as we wrap up the school year in May, so please be sure to read this newsletter and all communications from your student's teachers closely
  • Join us for this week's Spring Concert on Thursday, April 30 at 2:00pm in church! We look forward to seeing the musical talents of our students in grades 4-8

Thank you again for your kindness and prayers during my leave.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Sagat
Principal

School Choice Information

The Next Round of School Choice Applications Opens May 1st!

Think of the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program as a new form of financial aid available to our current families. Our goal with this program is to be able to better assist our families already attending St. Alphonsus in affording Catholic school tuition! Applications for this program re-open on May 1 and will close again on May 20. We encourage those families who are interested to apply early. You can find more information on schoolchoicewi.organd see the income eligibility chart below to learn if you qualify. You can apply online at this link.

Other Important Reminders

Smart Watch Reminder

We've noticed an uptick in students wearing smart watches to school this spring! Please remember that per our technology code in the Family Handbook, Apple Watches and any other smart watches that can interface with a cell phone OR that are not a regular analog or digital watch will need to be turned in each morning just as phones are collected and held. This includes watches like VTech on which games can be played.

We recommend leaving your students' smart watches at home! Students wearing smart watches who do NOT turn them in to their teachers at the start of the morning will have them confiscated until the end of the school day. Thank you for your cooperation with this policy!

Uniform Skirts & Shorts Reminder

We know that spring is often a time of new growth--for nature and for students! However, please remember that skirts & shorts need to follow our length guidelines in the Family Handbook. We have noticed quite a few skirts and shorts that are not following our guidelines since students can start wearing them without tights again, so we wanted to remind you what the handbook says. All skirts, skorts, & shorts:

  • Must be worn at waist level at all times.
  • Must go past the fingertips when hands are at the student’s side.
  • Must be same length all around (front and back)
  • Must be chino or dress shorts or skorts without pockets on legs.
  • No cargo style shorts or skorts.

Don't forget that we do have a large uniform closet of gently used uniform items for $1 a piece if your students are growing out of their skirts & shorts. Stop in the office anytime to be let in--cash only.
