Please Welcome Our Newest Member, Pentagoet Inn & Pub!

The Pentagöet Inn & Pub is Castine's oldest original summer hotel, first welcoming "rusticators" in 1894 by proprietress Lizzie Moon. New innkeepers and co-owners Matt Powell & George Trinovitch became the proprietors in 2022, and have since transformed the "Grand Dame on Main" into Downeast's premier hospitality destination. The inn's first floor has recently gone through a complete interior restoration, bringing back the piano parlor and pub of the Victorian era, and the exterior now sports the original grand corner staircase, thanks to a generous grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. An exterior courtyard is also set for completion before the height of the summer season.

The inn had a "soft open" for Maine Maritime programming in March, and will open fully on May 1. In 2023, Matt & George were proud to reopen the Pentagöet Pub, the restaurant which had been closed since 2017. The restaurant is slated to reopen on May 2, featuring favorites such as Maine lobster pot pie, Deer Isle crab cakes, and Maple-blueberry cobbler as well as their famed specialty cocktails. Headliner events include Maine Maritime graduation weekend (May 3-5), the Pentagöet Fourth of July BBQ, Bastille Day (July 14) Cocktails, as well as live music on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please come and visit the inn or restaurant!
