CEC Back to School 2021-2022 COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols
Dear CEC Families and Staff,
We hope your summer is going well. We know there are a lot of concerns about the health guidelines around COVID and our return to school.   Below are CEC’s health recommendations based on CDC, CEC health personnel, Colorado Charter School Institute, and recent guidelines released from local county school districts.
No Longer Requiring Masks/Face Coverings
  • Face coverings will no longer be required for any student or staff member; however, masks may be worn by those who feel more comfortable doing so.
  • Face coverings will not be required in educational spaces or during educational activities.
  • Masks are supported if individuals choose or need to wear them, and CEC will be supportive of this choice.
  • Bullying or harassment of any person based on their personal choices around masks or vaccines will not be tolerated. Every member of the CEC community will respect each other's decisions on these subjects and behave honorably, treating each other with kindness.
COVID Immunizations Not Mandatory
  • CEC will continue to provide information to the community about COVID immunization opportunities as a courtesy for those who wish to access the vaccine. However, the COVID immunization will not be required for staff or students.
  • Records of vaccinations for COVID will also not be required.
Quarantines Discontinued
  • Quarantines of healthy/non-symptomatic students and staff will be discontinued.
  • Should a student or staff member test positive for COVID, they will be asked to isolate for 10 days.
  • CEC may work to make COVID testing more accessible for symptomatic students/staff.
Physical Distancing No Longer Implemented
  • Physical distancing will no longer be implemented.
Visitors on CEC Campuses Permitted
  • In the 2021-2022 school year, visitors will be permitted in schools as they were pre-COVID. Face coverings will not be required for visitors; however, they may wear one if they are more comfortable doing so.
Field Trips Resume
  • Field trips will resume in 2021-2022.
  • CEC will continue to encourage good hand hygiene, such as reminding students to wash hands after using the restroom, before meals, etc., and provide access to hand sanitizer.
  • Touchpoints (i.e. doorknobs, light switches, etc.) will continue to be disinfected throughout all buildings on a daily basis.
  • Teachers and staff will continue to have access to disinfectant supplies, including disinfecting spray to clean high-touch areas regularly, if desired.
In addition to the protocols listed above, CEC will continue to encourage families to keep students at home when showing symptoms of illness.
