We have been having some beautiful, long sunny days this week, and it looks like they're going to continue. But the nights have been cooler than anticipated, and that's changed the harvest plans for some of our farmers. But we still have plenty to pack in your bags: you'll all have some sweet corn, green peppers, eggplant, red onion, broccoli and peaches. We're also expecting Yellow Doll Watermelon-- a beautiful and subtly sweet yellow fleshed melon, smaller than a standard watermelon.

The Omnivore Bags will also have a pack of pork chops-- two chops per pack. Here is a super simple preparation:

  • Set oven to 350, & bring chops to room temp
  • Season on both sides with salt and pepper
  • Sear 3-4 min per side in hot oven-safe pan on stovetop
  • Finish in the oven for 8-10 minutes
  • Press the center of the chop-- if it's firming up, it's done. Try not to overcook.
  • Add a drop of honey to the top and serve
The Vegetarian & Vegan bags will also get some carrots, a bunch of beets and a bag of black beans. Click here for Parker's Guide to Preparing Dried Beans. The Large Shares will get carrots as well as some tomatoes, a head of garlic, some plums, and a pound of ground beef (Black Bean & Corn Tortilla Chips and extra peaches for the Large Veggies.)

Also, if you are placing a Special Order this week, take a gander at our Meats selection. We have two totally new products in stock: Pork & Beef Italian Sausage Links and Beef Chorizo Brats from Ohio City Provisions. Toast some buns, give them a poach and then finish on the grill for a perfect summer dinner!
