Leadership Team Updates

Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

What a wonderful holiday season it's been here at St. Alphonsus Catholic School. We had a great time at our all-school field trip to Elf Jr. last week, and we have more exciting holiday events this week, including Christmas Spirit Day today, our Staff Holiday Luncheon, Christmas parties throughout the week, and Las Posadas on Friday!

First, thank you for your kind words of encouragement on this morning's announcement that Ms. Parey will be our permanent principal. If you missed that email today, you can read more here. We alluded to it in the letter, but our staff is very excited & frankly, relieved to have Ms. Parey be named our permanent principal. "We are thrilled to have Ms. Parey at the helm. She has our school's best interests always at heart, communicates early & often, and we as a staff know that any issues or support we need are being handled in a timely manner," said one of our teachers. All of our staff will be returning after Christmas break and we are looking forward to a busy winter season without having the additional worry of finding a new principal! Our Leadership Team is also so excited to keep moving forward and provide much needed stability for our school. We are so appreciative of your words of encouragement!

Second, please be sure to scan this week's newsletter thoroughly. It has a lot of last minute reminders for the week, including about pizza lunch on Thursday. Home & School still needs some volunteers for that, so please consider signing up!

Lastly, we are wishing you all a wonderful and relaxing Christmas break. We hope the spirit of the season will be with you all as we celebrate these wonderful holidays. We look forward to seeing you all back in school on Wednesday, January 3!

Merry Christmas from all of us!

Ms. Parey, Mrs. Schermetzler & Mrs. Bruhn

Principal & Leadership Team

Rosary Club Reminder

The last Rosary Club meeting in 2023 was last Wednesday, December 13. Father Anthoni will be out of the country until February 10, 2024; and Rosary Club will resume again on Wednesday, February 21.

Thank you for a wonderful year so far!

Congratulations to our 3rd Grade Fire Contest Winners!

Anton & Allison in 3rd Grade were the St. Alphonsus School winners for the Greendale Fire Station's annual Safety Contest!

As their prize, they were picked up on the ladder truck (Truck #41). They were able to play basketball inside the fire station while waiting for the other schools' students to arrive, then they had lunch with the firefighters - sloppy joe's, mac n cheese, tater tots, grapes, cookies, and juice! After lunch, Anton & Allison took a tour of the fire station, received a kid's helmet and boarded the ambulance to be taken back to the school.

A super fun day, and congratulations to both of them!

December & January Lunch Menu

Our Next Pizza Lunch is Coming Up on this week, on Thursday, December 21!

We still need some volunteers to help distribute the lunches to students. Do you start your Christmas break early this week? Consider popping in for less than an hour and volunteering! You can sign up here.

Remember that there is no hot lunch, ala carte, or milk served on this day, so if your students did not order pizza they will need to bring a cold lunch & beverage.

December Out of Uniform Schedule

We thought it might be easier for you to have a list of days that are Out-Of-Uniform either with a pass or with special circumstances for the whole month, so here are the remaining Out-of-Uniform Days for December:

SCRIP Makes Sense!

This week's SCRIP updates:

Sunday, December 17 was the last date to order SCRIP before Christmas break. Orders will be sent home this Wednesday through backpack mail. The SCRIP table will be closed Christmas and New Year's weekends. If you place orders during the holidays, we can arrange a pick up.

The fiscal year is coming to a close on December 31.  Thank you to the families who are using SCRIP regularly! One family has earned over a $400 tuition rebate! It is so easy to build up your tuition rebate by using SCRIP weekly for gas, groceries, dining out options and shopping! Rebate vouchers will be sent to families the first week in January. The rebate will either be 50% of the total rebate or 2% of total sales (whichever is the higher amount).

If you haven't started making SCRIP part of your routine, make a New Year's resolution. I guarantee you will earn more "points" with SCRIP than using your credit card. (Watch for those Kwik-Trip 9% bonus days!)

Signing up for SCRIP is easy, and there is even an app to use! Register here, using the enrollment code 855F1LF31943. You can also check out our Enrollment Forms and FAQ on our school website. If you would like to order via paper order form, you can find that here.

Any questions, please call or email our SCRIP coordinator, Vickie Major at 414-704-0526 or via email here.

Have a wonderful holiday season!
