Impact 100 December President's Message

The Spirit of Giving . . . an Exciting 2015 for Impact 100

We have a very exciting 2015 shaping up for Impact 100.

Recruiting for the 2015 Impact Year is well underway.  We already have close to $300,000 committed - approaching our highest ever total.  Everyone is working hard to get to $400,000 - which would enable us to give four $100,000 grants for the first time ever.  If you can help by bringing a friend or colleague to Impact 100 - there is no better time than now!  Please share the Impact 100 story, bring a friend, and help us reach our goal.  PLEASE help us IMPACT MORE with FOUR!!!!

The Non-Profit Agencies in our community are showing a very strong interest in applying for an Impact 100 grant.  Over 100 agency representatives attended the Information Sessions held in late October, and many have begun the process of completing a Letter of Intent (LOI).  Judging from the conversations at the Information Sessions, we will have some very strong and creative project proposals.

The new 2015 Impact 100 Board was elected at the November Board Meeting.  The new Board is in place, and will begin work in January.  We are fortunate to have a wonderful Board of 20 talented, committed women serving the organization.  They include:

  • Sharon Mitchell, President
  • Lisa Kaminski, Vice President Recruiting
  • Donna Broderick, Treasurer & President Elect for 2016
  • Yvonne Thomas, Secretary
  • Marilyn Kinne, Grant Review Coordinator
  • Andrea Flora, CIRC Chair
  • Angela Otis, Recruiting Co-Chair
  • Sandy Greenwald, Communications Chair
  • Becki Meyer, Marketing/PR Chair
  • Kelly Mahan, Membership Key Events Chair
  • Daniela Neukam, Membership Liaison Chair
  • Kim Corrigan, Membership Co-Chair
  • Clare Zlatic Blankemeyer, Not-for-Profit Coordinator
  • Sarah Buckley, Not-for-Profit Outreach Coordinator
  • Erin Arnold, Grant Focus Area Committee Chair
  • Susan Cranley, Grant Focus Area Committee Chair
  • Kim Watts McMillan, Grant Focus Area Committee Chair
  • Jennifer Sheil, Grant Focus Area Committee Chair
  • Delane Starliper, Grant Focus Area Committee Chair

I'd like to extend a special thanks to the members of the 2014 Board for their outstanding leadership, service, passion and hard work.  They've left a solid foundation for continued growth.  We're sad to say farewell to several departing members - Lyn Jarc, Sally Nugent and Tawnya Childress.

We invite all our members to serve on an Impact 100 Committee, and we have a wide variety of opportunities including:

  • Membership Committee
  • Recruiting Committee
  • Communications & Marketing Committee
  • Grant Focus Area Committees (there are 5 committees - one for each focus area)

                             Culture

Education

Environment, Preservation & Recreation

Family

Health & Wellness

  • Community Investment Review Committee (CIRC)

Please watch the web-site for Committee sign-up instructions.

I look forward to working with many of you on the Impact 100 Committees in 2015.

Have a very Happy Holiday, and a Peaceful and Happy New Year.

Warm Regards,

Sharon Mitchell

Literacy Network - Crystal Award Presentation
In mid-November, Impact 100 was excited to participate in the Literacy Network's Board meeting, to present them with a crystal award, as one of our 2014 Grant Award Recipients! The grant of $109,000 will be used to expand their Adult and Children's Basic Literacy Programs to new hub locations in Price Hill and Avondale.

Giving Tuesday

On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, thousands of charities, families, businesses, community centers and students from around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. Watch Facebook for photos from our #GIVING TUESDAY event!

Holiday Concert
One of our Impact 100 2014 Grant Award Recipients, MYCincinnati, will be performing their Holiday Concert at the gorgeous St. Teresa's Church in West Price Hill, across the street from Cincinnati Landmark, Price Hill Chili.

The event is on Thursday, December 18th at 7:00pm at St. Teresa of Avila Parish (address: 1175 Overlook Avenue, Cincinnati, 45238). The children will be playing some holiday songs, as well as some of their usual classical favorites. They will also be MC'ing the concert.

Relax and enjoy the beautiful music, and know that our Impact 100 grant of $109,000 will allow this group to grow and expand for 2015!

Member Spotlight

Amy Tobin
Impact 100 Member

Who I am?

I'm the owner of Amy Tobin & Company, a lifestyle consulting business that works with national consumer brands, Director of the Event Center at the New Riff Distillery and host of the weekly radio show Amy's Table: A Guide to Living on Q102.

What got you involved in Impact 100?

I was drawn to Impact 100 because I love the power of women united for greater good. I also love working collaboratively with others- that's when real magic happens. When like minded people get together I really do believe they can change the world.

What keeps you a member?

I'm a new member so at this point I've done nothing more than donate, but I look forward to the opportunity to roll up my sleeves & participate hands-on.

Donations Needed

Building Value is looking for gently used Carhartt (or similar company) insulated work coveralls/bibs for Building Value associates. Do you have a connection to a charitable-minded Carhartt rep, or a connection to someone who may own a pair or two, and are willing to donate them? Easter Seals Building Value was an Impact 100 Cincinnati grant recipient in 2013 in which Impact 100 funded key heavy equipment purchases required to expand its deconstruction program and launch a new lot stabilization and maintenance service.
