Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!!!

As we celebrate this season, we're reminded of how rewarding it is to give, whether with the gift of our talents, the gift of a donation to a favorite organization, or the gift of creative space to a friend or loved one ~ We have Gift Certificates available at the reception desks at all RG locations.

Thanks to all who give of yourselves every day, bringing joy, hope and inspiration. You light up our studios with your energy and creativity all year long, and we are grateful for it.

Joyful Holidays to all. See you at the studios.

HURRICANE RELIEF

Donate to World Central Kitchen

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a group of first responders who are currently providing hot meals to communities affected by the recent hurricanes in Florida, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

The destruction is devastating.

WCK anticipated the need, and their Rapid Response Field Kitchen Team pre-positioned and ready to respond quickly. It's a long road to recovery, as WCK continues to blanket the devastated region with much needed food and water aid.

If you are looking for a way to help, please give to WCK.

Ripley-Grier Studios provides ongoing contributions for WCK by selling merch and providing donation boxes at all 4 RG locations. Click the link below to donate directly to World Central Kitchen.

Greetings:

Sending cheerful holiday vibes and positive intentions to all our friends, family, staff and clients. We had a great Thanksgiving in Long Beach with our family: son, daughter in law, daughter & 4 grandkids, it was great! Good food, great company and even a few games (very rare for me). Butch and I just returned from Key West. Last fall we established a home and office there. Butch opened a valuable relationship with the local Veteran's medical facility. He gets exams and treatments there. In the middle of November Butch was taking a planned VA stress test and experienced some adverse reactions so he needed to stay at the medical center in Key West overnight. Due to a lack of sophisticated diagnostic equipment he was taken to Miami to Mt. Sinai hospital for further evaluation which turned out to be a blessing. While undergoing evaluation he met two heart surgeons who suggested that he undergo a test to see if he was a good candidate for "stents" (a method of opening the blood flow capacity of arteries). During the test it was discovered that 2 of his 4 heart arteries were 80/90% restricted. The docs said they could do the procedure right away. The plan was one stent now, one later in December or January, either in Miami or New York. After discussion we decided this was the correct next move, it would be a good opportunity while he was at Mt. Sinai and not wait and go through the prep and process back in NY where it could be difficult to plan the hospital stay. One day later he had the procedure and as his good luck continued they were able to do 2 stents instead of 1 and eliminated the New York plan. Two days later we were on a plane to New York from Miami. He was sore and had a lot of bruising as they went in through the groin and up to the heart. After 8 unplanned days in the hospital he was glad to be home. He's doing much better but the cold weather is very uncomfortable for him so he wants to get back to balmy Florida as soon as the holidays pass. (We are going to stay until after the 4th of January so we can celebrate our youngest grandson, Griffin's, birthday).

We have our annual Employee Holiday Party coming up and other studio festivities. A very busy time of year for everyone at Ripley-Grier. This past year has been stressful for everyone with a long, controversial and divisive presidential campaign. No break from the constant negative rhetoric and chatter. We'll all have a very interesting New Year and beyond to say the least.

FYI: We've started a Yoga class as part of our "Classes at RG" program and it is fantastic. I take the 12 noon class with Blake Lee on Wednesday with other staff members & students. I highly recommend this class. Check our website for the schedule. Yoga and meditation helps ease stress during the holidays. In between expected holiday activities with family and friends, plan less busy ones. Continue your fitness routines and eat with mindfulness. If you are into winter sports get out and get acclimated to the winter weather, (we had a mild fall). Take up or continue skiing, skating, hiking etc. & run around the gym track, swim in an indoor pool, get on the rowing machine or bike, treadmill, etc. Keep your aerobic activity going. Play pickleball, racketball, tennis or go bowling. Find some quiet time, read, watch a movie, go to a play, do your holiday shopping early and with purpose. Take it easy, stay calm, enjoy and find time for loved ones gently, sweetly, calmly or kick up your heels, (but don't drink too much).

Happy New Year!

Have a lovely holiday and see you at the studios.

Peace, Patricia

Hi everyone!

I started off November by attending Rhode Island Comic Con with my friend, Lauren. Unfortunately the con was very overcrowded making it difficult to get everywhere we needed to be, but in the end I met almost everyone I went there to meet so I was happy. I met Giancarlo Esposito, Lea Thompson, Tom Wilson, Matthew Lillard, Steve from Blues Clues, and Alex Brightman! I was able to have a conversation with most of them and they were all so nice!

Later in the month I saw the play McNeal with Robert Downey Jr. It was amazing to see RDJ on stage after being a fan for so long. A week after, I saw Once Upon a Mattress a few days before it closed. I thought the musical was so funny and it was great to see Sutton Foster and Michael Urie again.

Until next month, Jeannie
