For tax year 2025, Ohio will again offer a state income tax credit for monetary contributions to specific state-level political campaigns. This credit is capped at $50 for individual filers and $100 for joint filers. The credit can be applied to your Ohio income tax liability and cannot exceed the amount of tax you owe.

It is more urgent this year as after 2025 this tax credit/refund will no longer be available. Your favorite candidates all should have websites that make it easy for you to donate to their campaigns.

Eligibility

To receive the credit, your contributions must be made to the campaign committee of a candidate running for one of the following Ohio public offices (it must be an Ohio office, not a federal or local one):

Governor or Lieutenant Governor

Secretary of State

Auditor of State

Treasurer of State

Attorney General

Member of the State Board of Education

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

Justice of the Supreme Court

Member of the General Assembly (Ohio House or Ohio Senate)

How to claim the credit

Documentation: Keep a copy of your checks, money orders, or receipts for cash donations as proof of your contribution.

Tax Form: To claim the credit, you will need to complete the 2025 Ohio Schedule of Credits (part of the Ohio IT 1040 income tax return). The Schedule of Credits includes a line item specifically for campaign contributions.

Create a great offer by adding words like "free," "personalized," "complimentary," or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take action, so consider inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"

There were 40 folks speaking out, trying to keep warm and celebrating their 45th week in front of Tesla on Saturday and, yes, they will be out again on Saturday, December 27

Food and drink will be provided. Guests are asked to bring an item of winter clothing to donate to the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless.
