Laura: Employment Coordinator
Did you know that New Heights has been running an Employment Program for the past seven years? Partnering with Prospect Human Services since 2013, our New Heights high school students have had the opportunity to work with job coaches and placement specialists to land their own, paid part-time jobs on evenings, weekends, and through the summer season. For questions about our Employment Program, please contact .

This year, New Heights is very excited to bring this program in-house with the hiring of our own Employment Coordinator, Laura Hollohan. Welcome Laura!

Dear New Heights Family,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the Employment Coordinator at New Heights School. I am looking forward to working closely with staff, getting to know the students and helping them identify goals and transition into the workforce in an enjoyable, meaningful and sustainable way.
When I am not working, you can usually find me out in the community with my two kids. I love hiking and running but can also be a couch potato as I play video games quite a bit. I combine these two passions by playing Pokemon Go with my family.
Thank you all for the warm welcome I have received so far and I am honored to be part of the New Heights Team!

Featured App for December - Choiceworks

Choiceworks is an app that helps children complete daily routines, understand and control their feelings and improve their waiting skills (taking turns and not interrupting). This is a great learning tool that can be used to keep children on task and motivated
Autism Aspergers Friendship Society
The AAFS After School program runs Monday-Thursday at the AAFS Clubhouse (7220D Fairmount Dr SE) from 3:00pm-6:00pm each week for the entire duration of the school year (with the exception of holidays, Christmas Break, and Spring Break).

The times for the After School program are flexible; parents are welcome to pick their child up whenever they wish (but each registrant is billed for the entire length of the program (3 hours) regardless of how long they attended).

We do provide a pick-up for our youth attending school at New Heights. For children under the age of 13, there is a daily fee of $25 to cover snacks, transportation costs etc, which would be in addition to the 3 hours of respite charge to FSCD. When the child turns 13, and if they have work related child care (WRCC) in their FSCD contract, the family would not be charged an additional fee, but rather FSCD would be billed 3 hours of respite at a rate of $27.

AAFS Friday is where we as a group go out into the community to enjoy all sorts of activities. We pick up youth from New Heights and then go on to our activity, and then pick-up is at the AAFS clubhouse at 4pm (there is aftercare available at the clubhouse until 5:30pm if necessary).

If the youth is under the age of 13 and if they have “work related child care” or “respite” hours in their FSCD contract, they will be billed at an hourly rate of $21.00. This hourly rate is covered by FSCD, but the family will also be billed a $15 program fee for each AAFS Friday activity their child attends. For youth over the age of 13, the FSCD rate would be $27 and no program fee would be applied.
