Leadership Team Updates

Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

Welcome to December! It's always a busy time here at St. Alphonsus, and this week is no different. Today we had Mass Practice with all of the students so we could practice entering and leaving curch silently and reverently for our new Silent Wednesdays Advent Tradition which will start this Wednesday. We also practiced genuflecting, the Sign of the Cross, and putting away our hymnals quietly. The students did great and we are so proud of them!

This week we will have Mass twice. Wednesday is our regular school mass, and Friday is a holy day of obligation, so we will attend mass on Friday morning to celebrate the Immaculate Conception as well. You are welcome to join us at both masses! One important safety thing to note--if you need to come to the school office after mass, please do not attach yourself to a class in order to enter the school building. It is best practice for you to be either escorted by an administrator (we all attend mass!) OR for you to pull around and enter the school building at the school office doors. This is just because not everyone may know who you are and we need to be consistent with how visitors enter our building. Thank you for helping us keep our kids safe!

Also this week is our Christmas concert for grades 3K through 3rd, taking place tomorrow! You can find more details on this below.

In addition, this weekend is our annual Cookie Walk and we are also hosting Hospitality after all masses. We would love your help with both of these things, so please consider signing up below, and don't forget to bake your cookies this week!

Lastly, we want to say a big thank you to Joe Krysiak, who exited as our Athletic Director last week. Joe's statement reads "I wanted to let everyone know that I have stepped down from Athletics at St. Alphonsus. I have really enjoyed my time watching our athletes grow as sports competitors and people over the last number of years. A big thanks to all those who have helped out in athletics over the years. You will be in the very capable hands of Nick Warrichaiet as he has taken over for me and will serve as Athletic Director going forward." We thank Joe for his tireless efforts on behalf of St. Alphonsus Athletics, which includes several successful runs in the Seton and Sierra Padre Tournaments. We welcome Nick Warrichaiet and are looking forward to seeing continued success from our athletics programs going forward! Go Cougars!

As we focus here at school on the season of Advent and preparing for Jesus's birth, we hope you will find time to sit in silence and reflection yourselves. We know how busy this time of year can be with young children, so please be sure to find pockets of time to rest and reflect during this time of preparation. Take care of yourselves!

Have a great week!

Ms. Parey, Mrs. Schermetzler, and Mrs. Bruhn

Interim Leadership Team

The Christmas Concert is tomorrow, Tuesday, December 5 at 10:30am and 6:00pm!

All performances take place in the church, and we hope you will join us.

For the school day performance, students should wear their uniforms. For the evening performance, please have your student wear nice clothes. This could be a nice shirt and dress pants/khakis (uniform or better), or a skirt or dress with tights or leggings underneath. Shoes should be comfortable for standing on the risers. Please do not wear jeans, t-shirts, sweats, glitter, or sequins.

Parents of performers, you can see more info from Ms. Webber here.

Cookie Walk is THIS WEEKEND!

Thank you for returning your Cookie Walk forms! It's time to get baking!

Cookies can be returned in both car lines on Friday, December 8. Look for our volunteers who are collecting!

They do not need to be bagged or packaged a certain way, but if you would like your container back, please be sure to label it with your name. We are not passing out containers for collection this year.

Forgot to return your form? That's ok! Consider volunteering to help us at the Cookie Walk itself. We still need some additional assistance with selling after all masses and cleanup when the event is over. School is also hosting Hospitality after all masses during Cookie Walk weekend, and we need some additional volunteers for that. You can sign up to volunteer for all of these jobs here! If you already signed up via your participation form, you do not need to sign up again. Just be sure to show up for your shift!

You can sign up to donate an item or help out here. They will have volunteers in the drop-off line on Monday, December 18 to collect the items. Thank you in advance!

Teacher Wishlists Now Available

Are you looking for a unique way to gift your teachers this holiday season? Why not buy them something off their Amazon wishlists?

Home & School asked teachers to make a wishlist of items they'd love to have in their classrooms or as gifts for themselves. You can check these wishlists out below. Don't see your child's teacher? Encourage them to make one! We will continue to share these throughout the month of December, and will add new ones as they are created. If a teacher opted not to share a wishlist, we have included a list of gift cards they might like to receive.
