Hackathon: Teen Stress
On Friday, we hosted a Hackaton where students had a chance to not just learn about being an entrepreneur, but actually BE an entrepreneur.
Students tackled a topic that they know well, teen stress, and went through a design think process to create a new product or service and pitched it to a panel judges.
These 25 students volunteered, taking a risk on a new event, and walked away with an amazing experience in design thinking, entrepreneurship, presentations, and collaboration.

Soccer Highlights:
Soccer had a tremendous week! The Freshmen Team kicked it off with a win on Friday January 31 at home vs Amador Valley. After a weekend of rest all three teams came out with a vengeance sweeping Dougherty Valley HS (F: 2-0, JV: 3-1, and V: 6-1). Thursday was soccer's SOS (Support Our Sisters) Game vs Monte Vista! The JV game was a defensive battle ending in a 0-0 tie. The Varsity team came out of the gates on fire scoring two goals to put them up 2-0 at half! The Mustangs were not about to back down and scored two quick goals at the start of the 2nd half to tie it up 2-2. The Cougars answered the call with a 3-2 go lead shortly after.
Then the Mustangs answered back
tying
the score to 3-3.
With under a minute to go the Cougars were awarded a free kick, which led to the winning goal 4-3. Go Cougars!

Basketball Highlights:
All three basketball teams had a phenomenal week. JV and Varsity closed out January with a set of wins over Livermore. February 4 was the SOS event for Basketball vs. San Ramon Valley HS. To kick it off the students had a chance to get some tacos, listen to some music from Wild 94.9, make some spirit posters, and fire up with some face paint before heading to the gym to cheer on their Cougar sisters. The Freshmen team started the night off with a W playing terrific team defense. JV followed with another great game beating the Wolves 65-55. The final matchup of the night had the number 1 and 2 teams in the league playing one another. The Wolves came out hard and at one point were up on the Cougars by 19. In typical Cougar fashion the team buckled down and came back within three. The Cougars did not come out with the win on the scoreboard, but they truly showed they are a talented group of young women who are going to fight till the bitter end. To round out the week the JV team continued their winning streak beating St. Joseph's 43-29!
