From the Desk of Mr. Johnston

Dear Families,

Well, it was a much quieter week this week as we got back to normal after all the excitement of Catholic Schools week. However, there was still plenty of fun on Thursday as our students had dress-up and activities to celebrate 100 Days of School! Be sure to check it out below.

Please remember to return your 2023-2024 Intent to Return form, found on our website here, as soon as you can. While you are there be sure to look around the website, as it is continually being updated!

Please also save the date for the Parish Auction, coming up on Friday, April 21. We would love to have lots of school families attend! You can see more information below.

If you did not have a chance to read it on Thursday, please take a moment to read my letter about the SCRIP program and check out additional program details in this newsletter. It is a great opportunity to help our school and get a rebate back for tuition. Thank you for your support!

Finally, we know you are waiting patiently for the 2023-2024 School Calendar to be released. We are in the process of finalizing and will be releasing it to you on Wednesday, February 15.

Stay safe and have a great weekend!

Russ Johnston

NET Retreat: Host Families Still Needed!

On Tuesday, February 21st, the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be participating in a NET Retreat during the school day. The NET Retreat is an evangelistic retreat designed to help young people encounter the person of Christ. The retreat teams use peer-to-peer ministry to bring God’s love to retreatants.

The retreat teams are made up of recent college graduates who travel from school to school staying with host families. The schools who work with NET Ministries are responsible for finding housing and providing meals to the team with whom they are working. As a result, St. Alphonsus is looking for host families to provide our team with housing on February 20 and 21, as well as breakfast on February 21 & 22. The team will arrive at 8:00pm on Monday, February 20 and depart on Wednesday, February 22. Our team consists of 3 men and 5 women. We would be grateful if 3-4 St. Alphonsus families would be willing to host 1 or more of the team members. Please contact Mr. Johnston if you would be willing to host.

It's Time to Order Your Yearbook!

Save the Date for the Parish Auction!

Join us on Friday, April 21 for the Annual Parish Auction!

We would love to see lots of school families at the Parish Auction this year! For those who have never attended, it is a fantastic night with great food, drinks, camaraderie, and great items, all for a good cause! Gather friends and family, come by yourself, or make it a date night. We hope you see you there! Be on the lookout for registration information coming soon.

In the meantime, we are looking for sponsorships and donations for the auction. We have several school parents on the auction committee who will be working to put together some auction baskets and artwork pieces to be bid on at the auction. You can get an idea of what we are looking for in this letter, and we will have specific basket themes for you soon. You can send your donation items directly to school (please label them Parish Auction, Attn: Amy Schermetzler) with a completed donation form. You can also fill out a sponsorship form here.

Do you have something cool you could donate for a live auction item? Maybe you have a boat and we can plan a package involving a boat trip on a local lake. Or do you have a condo or cottage home-away-from-home we could base a live auction package on? If so, we would love to hear from you. You can contact Sue Ruedinger, Debbie Sievert, or Amy Schermetzler here at school with your ideas.

SCRIP Makes $ense

SCRIP is easy to purchase, easy to use and most importantly, you can earn rebates to use for your tuition!

Often, you can earn more purchasing SCRIP than you can using your credit card! As an example, Kwik-Trip is offering a 9%

rebate this month! Who has seen a return from your credit card like that anywhere? Raise Right offers many bonuses with hundreds of vendors throughout the year which translates to more money for your tuition next year!  You can see all of the brands on the website, but here is just a sampling:

Retail: CVS, Disney, Hallmark, iTunes, JC Penney, JoAnn Fabrics, Kohl’s, Land’s End, Lowe’s, Marcus Theatres, Macy’s, Menards, Office Depot, PetSmart, Sam’s Club, Target, TJ Maxx, Walgreen’s, Walmart

Restaurants: Applebee’s, Arby’s, Broad Street Coffee, Buffalo Wild Wings, Carrabbas, Cheesecake Factory, Chili’s, Chipotle, Cousin’s Subs, Culver’s, Domino’s Pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts, Longhorn Steakhouse, Maggiano’s, Milk Can Diner, National Bakery, Noodles & Co., Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, Panera Bread, Papa Murphy’s, Pizza Hut, QDoba, Red Lobster, Red Robin, Starbucks, Subway, Taco Bell, TGIFridays, That’s Amore, Wendy’s

Gas & Grocery: BP, Festival, Kwik Trip, Meier, Pick N Save, Piggly Wiggly, Sendiks, Speedway, Woodman’s

Last year, several families earned over $100 towards their tuition. There are a number of non-school families who are still purchasing their SCRIP and donating back to St. Alphonsus School. Enroll now and start your savings!

Scan or click our QR code to get started! The St. Alphonsus enrollment code is 855F1LF31943.
