Dear St. Alphonsus Families,
We had a fantastic Catholic Schools Week filled with so many fun events and activities throughout the week. We hope your students had an amazing time celebrating our "Small School, Big Faith." It was wonderful to see so many family members at a lot of our events! Please be sure to check out our Instagram and Facebook pages to see lots of videos and photos from throughout the week! Mrs. Schermetzler still has more to post as well!
I am also pleased to announce our two newest staff members! Please help me welcome Bianca Dossett, who will be our 3K aide, as well as Gina Andresen, who will be our new office administrator. Both have started their new positions in the last week (Mrs. Andresen's first day is today!) and we will share more about them (including pictures) in next week's newsletter. Give them a warm welcome the next time you see them!
As my due date draws near, I wanted to let you know the coverage plan for my maternity leave. The current plan is that I will be gone on leave from March 2nd through April 20; that said, if this baby decides to come early, obviously those dates would move up and we will keep you informed. During that time, Mrs. Schermetzler will be the lead administrator and will be in the building 5 days a week. Should you need anything, please contact her via email at aschermetzler@st-alphonsus.org. She can also help direct any questions that come in to our other internal stakeholders who are helping to facilitate my leave. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
Tuition Rates & Registration Information for the 2026-2027 School Year will be released this week. We will both email you AND send home a paper copy of this information to all families. Families who are applying for School Choice, the applications opened today at https://dpi.wi.gov/choice. If you are applying for Choice, you would ONLY apply to St. Alphonsus School online: you do not need to complete our separate Registration Form at this time. If you are not accepted into the Choice program, THEN you would need to complete our Registration Form at THAT time. The first round of Choice applications closes on February 20. The window for applications would then re-open from March 1 - March 20.
This leads me to my other reminder that I am hosting a School Choice Night THIS Thursday, February 5. These will be private and confidential meetings for all families who are interested in applying for school choice financial aid through the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program. I can review the paperwork required with you, answer questions you may have, and discuss your options as it relates to this program. Please see the flyer and information below for more details, and email me at msagat@st-alphonsus.org if you would like to meet with me or if you have any questions about School Choice.
Thank you again for your support of our school. Catholic Schools Week was truly a wonderful experience here and I am so amazed by our staff and community.
Have a great week!
Megan Sagat Principal

Don't forget to join Mrs. Sagat at School Choice Night, coming up this week on Thursday, February 5. This is your opportunity to ask questions about the program, have her review your paperwork, etc. All meetings will be spaced so that they are private and confidential. Please email Mrs. Sagat to set up a time.
Think of the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program as a new form of financial aid available to our current families. Our goal with this program is to be able to better assist our families already attending St. Alphonsus in affording Catholic school tuition! Enrollment into this program opens on February 2 and we encourage those families who are interested to apply early. You can find more information on schoolchoicewi.org and see the income eligibility chart below to learn if you qualify. The portal for applications is now open for our first round.

| | February Virtue of the Month | | |
Our February Virtue is Trustworthiness!
Trustworthiness is defined as acting in a way that inspires confidence and trust; being reliable. We will be talking about trustworthiness in the classroom throughout the month of February!
Trustworthiness at school looks like:
- Finishing a job or task well
- Delivering an important message to someone
- Turning homework in on time
- Telling the truth
- Knowing when to be silent; not gossiping about someone
What does trustworthiness look like at home for you?
