Early voting starts today! See below for the times the BOE is open for early voting. The party has received sample ballot door hangers which makes our job of spreading the word even easier. We’ll be coordinating canvassing shifts in targeted areas in the coming days so hopefully you can join in. 

We have a number of local and statehouse candidates who will take the fight to the Republicans in the Fall. Republicans being the key. All candidates want to win, and in some ways, politics is a blood sport, but some of the tactics, claims, and tenor of the accusations against fellow Democratic candidates are beyond the pale and below Democratic standards. We are not Republicans, a large portion of whom hate every Democrat and every policy we support. Democratic primary candidates have opponents, not enemies.

Chair Brock's Statement on Prevailing Wage

The recent vote by the Cleveland-Cuyahoga Port Authority in favor of a raise and bonus for its CEO is a slap in the face to workers in our county, especially given the Port’s decision to rescind the prevailing wage on bond-financed projects. Prevailing wage is a vital policy tool guaranteeing strong wages for workers, many of them union members, who are filling jobs with public funds. Considering that firms hired by the Port don’t pay sales tax on building supplies, we are essentially giving tax breaks to firms who need not be from this region, while cutting the wages our union workers make in these very jobs.

Black History Month

This week we highlight Stephanie Tubbs Jones. Municipal Judge. Common Pleas Judge Prosecutor. Congresswoman for the 11th Congressional District. Tubbs Jones was the first African American woman elected to Congress from the State of Ohio. She followed in the footsteps of Congressman Louis Stokes after he retired, leaving the Prosecutor's office. In Congress she fought for unions, workers and voted against the Iraq war.
