Bessborough Hall Update

Dialog has given us some concepts for the Life Skills room and the staff has had an opportunity to speak to the design and to make modifications. Additionally, they have determined space for the staffroom and a potential room for assembly and activity. We will be meeting with the City shortly to determine what renovations could signal code upgrades and what the City will allow to be grandfathered. As we will be using the lower level extensively we are requesting suggestions from Dialog to help that space look more inviting and reduce the ‘industrial’ look.

Todo Visual Schedule

This is a wearable picture-based scheduler that works on an Apple Watch, as well as on an iPhone or iPad. It comes with an intuitive interface that allows parents or teachers to easily create a picture-based customized daily schedule.

One of the great features of this app is that it displays each event as it is happening on your Apple Watch/iPhone /iPad while also showing you things such as how much time has passed, when the event will end, and you can see and check the tasks needed for the related event.

With the features on this app, children or adults are empowered with the opportunity to independently keep track of their scheduled activities and understand the following:
What is the activity you are engaged in this moment
How long the scheduled activity will take
What tasks to complete
How much time is left for the scheduled activity
When to get ready to transition
When the next scheduled activity will happen
HCS Capital Campaign Fundraiser
Over the holiday season, our very own Home & Community Staff (HCS) decided to make Colombian Tamales (from scratch!) to raise money for our Capital Campaign.

It was a combined effort of multiple staff (and their families) doing multiple shifts to make this all happen. BIG thank you to HCS that participated in raising $1228.50, your energy and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated.

Together, we will help more children and youth on the autism spectrum live confident, independent, and purposeful lives.
