Please Welcome Our Newest Member, Bagaduce Music!

Their mission is to collect, preserve and lend printed sheet music and to promote the appreciation, knowledge and performance of music.

The Bagaduce Music Lending Library was founded in 1983 as a not-for-profit, one-of-a-kind music library with a remarkable collection of printed sheet music of varying genres. This music collection is the cornerstone of who they are; more recently, their Mission has expanded to include more emphasis on Music Performance and Music Education. The name of the organization has recently changed from Bagaduce Music Lending Library or BMLL to Bagaduce Music. Bagaduce Music is located in the town of Blue Hill on the mid-coast of Maine.

Bagaduce Music makes a treasure trove of music available to the public. They also enable a number of music organizations to manage costs by borrowing music. They sponsor beautiful concerts and programs as a way of sharing their collection with the local community, the State of Maine, with the nation and with the world.

Are Maine Chambers of Commerce Still Relevant? Absolutely!

In today’s rapidly changing economy, some may question the relevance of Chambers of Commerce. While it’s true that business models evolve, the role of Chambers remain as vital as ever—perhaps even more so.

A Strong Voice for Local Business

Chambers advocate for businesses at the local, state, and even national levels. Whether it’s ensuring fair policies, supporting economic growth, or amplifying the needs of small businesses, Chambers provide a unified voice that individual businesses might not have on their own.

Connecting & Strengthening Communities

A thriving business community leads to a thriving town. Chambers serve as a bridge between businesses, residents, and visitors—fostering connections that strengthen the local economy. From networking events to collaborative marketing efforts, the value of Chamber membership extends beyond traditional business-to-business referrals.

Adapting to the Modern Business World

Chambers are evolving to meet the needs of today’s entrepreneurs, embracing digital marketing, workforce development initiatives, and tourism promotion. In Belfast and Waldo County, our Chamber plays a critical role in supporting the local economy, offering resources and programs that help businesses grow and succeed.

Proof of Impact

Despite challenges, many Chambers across Maine, including the Belfast Area Chamber, continue to thrive—because we adapt, listen, and provide meaningful support to our members. With 450 businesses and organizations strong, we remain committed to ensuring that businesses, large and small, have the tools they need to succeed.

So, are Chambers of Commerce still relevant? Without a doubt. As long as businesses need advocacy, connection, and community support, Chambers will remain an essential part of Maine’s economic landscape.
