HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Welcome to 2021 everyone. I’m sure we’re all hoping to say goodbye to Covid-19 sometime before the summer is upon us. What a crazy year 2020 was. We all need a year of less chaos and illness and keep hope and faith guiding us through 2021.

With the new year brings some familiar happenings back in play. This week marks the return of professional golf tours as well as the start of new seasons for our WGA and MGA. Both organizations are finalizing their calendar of events for the upcoming year and look forward to adding new members. The WGA meets at 8:30 with play starting at 9:00 every Tuesday. The MGA gets together on Wednesday mornings each week. If you are interested in finding out more about joining or more information about their activities, please contact the golf shop.

If you haven’t seen the golf shop lately, come by and check out the new merchandise and new look inside. Please let us know if there is something you would like to see in the golf shop or let us know if we can special order something for you. All special orders can be drop shipped to your residence or business. If you are looking to make special item purchases like range finders or golf clubs, please let us help you first and possibly save you money.

I’m excited about ’21, I’m excited about the new golf season and I’m excited to help our members, their families and all of our guests get more enjoyment from golf at Blue Lake. My door is always open (because there isn't one) and I welcome any and all feedback on the golf operations. Best wishes for a safe, healthy and happy 2021!

AGRONOMY NEWS
Chase Walker will be joining the Blue Lake staff as golf course superintendent. His first day on property is January 18. Chase currently works as an assistant superintendent at The Club at Colony Creek in Victoria, TX. Before working in Victoria, Chase worked at Miramont Country Club in Bryan.
He is a native of Brady and looks forward to the opportunity of getting closer to his old stomping grounds.
Please stop by and say hello later this month.

First up on Chases' agenda will be getting acclimated to the course and maintenance shop, addressing ongoing irrigation issues, and setting the agronomy calendar for the year.

The golf board recently approved accepting a bid for tree work on the golf course. Beginning the first part of February, we will begin removing some trees around selected greens and trimming a majority of the trees along the cart paths and around the golf course. This work is long overdue and will benefit the health of the greens, create a better line of sight from the tees and improve the overall appearance of the golf course.

Annual Golf Membership Meeting Reminder
All Blue Lake Golf Club members are invited to the annual meeting immediately preceding the quarterly POA meeting. You should have received the agenda in a separate email. If you did not receive the agenda, please contact the pro shop. The meeting is scheduled for January 16 at 9:30 a.m. in the community room.
