Leadership Team Updates

Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

What a cold and icy few days it's been! Last week, we had indoor recess due to the cold and hazardous conditions on the playground. This week, we will again plan recess on a day-by-day basis. Our first priority is student safety and if the parking lots or snow piles are too icy, we will not send students outside. That said, please be sure to send appropriate snow gear daily so that if we do go outside, your kiddos can enjoy the snow!

We are busy gearing up for Catholic Schools Week, and we hope to see you all at Pack the Church and Open House on Sunday! Join us at the 9:00am Mass--our whole staff will be attending, and we will have student lectors, a special song, and more! Then afterwards, come check out what your students have been up to this year during our Open House from 10:00am to 12:00pm. We are excited to show off our school!

Speaking of Catholic Schools Week, we have prepared a parent guide for you. You can find more details below and a link to download. It has all of the fun activities, dress down days, and other ways we will be celebrating!

Lastly, just a reminder that this Friday is our next Pizza Lunch fundraiser. If you did not order your students some pizza, they will need to bring a cold lunch & beverage.

Have a great week!

Middle School Minutes

The Science Lab has been getting quite the workout lately thanks to our Middle School students!

If you're squeamish you may want to look away, as the last few weeks have been DISSECTION WEEKS for our 8th Graders!

Students started with dissecting a flower, and then a worm. They then moved on to sheep hearts, and finally dissected frogs last week.

Home & School Happenings

This week is Dine Out Night at Red Robin!

Wednesday, January 24 th is Dine Out Night at Red Robin and we hope to see you there! Dine in or carry out ALL DAY at the Greenfield location, 7575 Edgerton Avenue.

Be sure to mention St. Alphonsus to your server when ordering in store or show the flyer below (printed or on your phone) and 20% of the sales will go to support St. Alphonsus!

A Message From Christian Formation

Hello everyone,

I have a dream. And your kids are part of it!

I dream that our world becomes radically transformed by the love of God. I long for each of your sons and daughters to experience this reality first hand. And, I want them to take this encounter out into the rest of the world.

I long for the hungry to be fed, lost to be found and those who feel lonely and isolated to recognize that they have place to belong - and they are necessary!

I believe that the youth of St. Al's can bring this reality about. I know they all have a desire to do great things. And they can. Why? Because God has given them unique gifts the world needs. And, God put them in this time in history because He knows that your kids have what the world needs right now!

See this link for the different opportunities we have to offer the teens to help them to connect to God and bring Him into the world!

Yours In Christ,

Karen Farrell
