President's Letter

Welcome to 2026

While we have just stepped into 2026, 2025 was a very exciting year for Central IAP. The newsletter will go into details, but your executive committee has been working hard behind the scenes to make Central IAP more streamlined, set us up for growth and the ability to offer our divisions and assemblies significantly more online support.

After running Central IAP as a very “decentralized” office, the biggest accomplishment of the year was our engagement of Associated Management Inc. (AMI) to help us with the day to day running of the academy. AMI will now help us manage our finances and accounting, bursaries, website, and so many other functions. Located in Seattle, Washington (USA) and with lots of experience helping to manage medical societies we are excited to be working with them. Rachael Lowery will be our new Executive Director. We hope you notice a difference because of their expertise!

We are also pleased to announce Dr. Gary Tse of the Hong Kong Division as the President elect. Gary brings years of involvement in the Hong Kong Division and the Asia Pacific Assembly as well as his work on our bulletin to Central IAP. Read more about him below.

If you have always wanted to visit Japan and learn about the latest in pathology at the same time, now is your chance! Mark your calendar for 8-13 October 2026 and plan to travel to Fukuoka, Japan. The city is known for its hospitality, food and location. Our hosts, the Japanese Division of the IAP have been planning for years, and the meeting promises to bring together the best of the best pathologists from around the world. You won’t want to miss it.

Hope to see you at a pathology meeting somewhere in 2026. Together we can make a difference in the lives of our patients.

Introducing President-Elect, Gary Tse

We are pleased to introduce Professor Gary Tse as the incoming President‑Elect of the International Academy of Pathology (IAP). With decades of dedicated service to the Academy, Gary has played a pivotal role in advancing IAP’s mission across the Asia‑Pacific region, serving for over ten years as Vice President for Asia, two decades as President of the Hong Kong Division, and most recently as IAP Bulletin Editor. Prof Tse will serve as President-Elect from January 1, 2026, and will take up the position of IAP President at the IAP Congress in Fukoka.

IAP Refreshed Website

We are excited to announce a full update of the IAP website! It is designed to better serve our global membership and make it easier than ever to find the information and resources you need.

The enhanced website offers simpler navigation and faster access to essential resources. Members can now easily find information on IAP bursaries, explore how to host an IAP Congress, and apply for educational meeting support, all through a more intuitive and streamlined layout.

This refresh is just the beginning. Over the coming months, we will be rolling out additional features as part of the full website launch, including tools to help members more easily identify and contact their local and regional divisions, more robust educational resources, along with other helpful updates to improve connectivity and accessibility across the IAP community.

We invite all members to explore the new website and rediscover the many opportunities IAP offers. Your feedback will be invaluable as we continue to refine and expand the site to meet the evolving needs of pathologists around the world.

Visit the new website today and stay tuned—there’s more to come!
