Welcome to our Self-Directed Services monthly newsletter, where we share updates, reminders, and helpful information to support you in self-directing your services.

Your Services, Your Story

Each month, we highlight someone successfully self-directing their services with The Arc, and this time we are highlighting Trey!

Trey has been self-directing his services since 2017 and has found it to be the service model that provides him with the most flexibility. Trey enjoys spending his time in the community, engaging in activities that provide him with socialization. Trey also works hard at cleaning commercial spaces and utilizes job coaching services through his self-directed budget.

Trey and his family believe that being flexible and being willing to accept change is key to being successful in self-directed services. Trey’s team finds electronic timekeeping and DDA’s recent updates to Individual Family Goods and Services (IFDGS) helpful in managing his services.

For families new to self-directed services, Trey’s team recommends being informed about services available and working closely with the Coordinator of Community Services (CCS) to ensure that updated information is being provided across the team.
