Chair's Corner

In this week’s edition of how Republicans take from us to give to the rich, the Ohio Senate budget bill includes an income tax cut of $1.4 billion. Yay! But the downside is you have to make $139,000 a year to get a tax cut.

On top of that, they want to use Unclaimed Public Funds (check this link: https://unclaimedfunds.ohio.gov/ to see if you’re owed money) to give $600 million to the Haslams. Instead of this, the Senate could use all this money to give the average Ohio family of 4… $672.

Today in Republican Ohio, we have the 6th highest unemployment rate in the country, we’re 38th in life expectancy, and we’re 44th in health outcomes.

Until we seriously challenge how business as usual has been handled in Ohio, we’re going to keep falling behind other states, and the average Ohioan is going to keep having less money, worse health, and a bleak future.
