BRATECC Recap during Houston-OTC 2023
On May 1st, 2023; BRATECC held our VIP Welcome Reception during Houston-OTC week when we had the remarkable moment of signing a cooperation agreement to promote the Brazilian oil and natural gas industry and expand the relationship between Brazil and the city of Houston. BRATECC President & CEO and Port Houston CCO, John Moseley, BRATECC Vice-President and ExxonMobil Brasil's Former President, Carla Lacerda, IBP President & CEO, Roberto Ardenghy and IBP Corporate Executive Director, Fernanda Delgado signed a #MOU - The Mayor Houston, Sylvester Turner, Texas Secretary of State, Jane Nelson and the Consul-General of Brazil in Houston, Amb. Maria Izabel Vieira, Council Member - At Large, Position 2, David W. Robinson, and ApexBrasil Managing Director, Floriano Pesaro were among the ones who witnessed the agreement sign. In addition to that, we also had the honor to have Heather Evans, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing of the International Trade Administration, Joelson Mendes, Director E&P of Petrobras (Representing Pres. Jean-Paul Prates), Rodolfo de Saboia, Director-General of ANP and Todd Chapman, Former U.S. Ambassador to Brazil (ret.) | BRATEC Advisory Board Member.
We had a full house on May 3rd, during our annual Offshore Breakfast 2023 and our expert speakers shined on stage. More than 400 OTC participants attended it and our panelists engaged in high-level discussion leaving the audience with an optimistic mood. The 1st panel discussed the challenges for the development of Offshore Wind and the global initiatives needed to accelerate its uptake in the energy matrix. Fernanda Delgado (IBP) focused on the importance of cooperation among companies and other entities. Fernanda Scoponi (TotalEnergies) addressed the need to establish regulatory frameworks for windfarms, as well as the challenges regarding integration with energy grids. Meanwhile, Alex Imperial (DNV Brasil) described what is being done in various parts of the world regarding the regulation of windfarms. Moderator Benigna Leiss, (Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy), kept the conversation dynamic and the audience engaged. Our keynote speaker, Mauricio Tolmasquim (Petrobras), emphasized that there is a need to develop skills in the industry to meet this new era. The 2nd panel discussed potential Oil and Gas investments in the context of the Brazil’s energy transition and described exciting perspectives for the future and encourage the opening of new frontiers. The panelists agreed that political decisions must be taken now to preserve Brazil's position as a key energy producer in the future. Roberto Ardenghy (IBP), moderated the panel integrated by of Decio Oddone (Enauta), Alberto Ferrin (ExxonMobil Brasil), Angelica Ruiz, (bp latam), and Wallace Pescarini, president (SLB).
