From the Desk of Mr. Johnston | |
Dear Families,
I am excited to be able to share with you some more information about this year’s Fun Fair, taking place on May 12th from 5:30-8:00. The order form for tickets is below; please consider pre-purchasing your tickets and your meal (new this year) before the night of the event. In addition to the usual games, raffles, and cake walk, this year’s event will include cotton candy, face painting, a chance to play teachers in ping-pong and more! This is sure to be a great night!
If there are families that still need to turn in your re-enrollment forms for 2023-2024, please return those to the office at your earliest convenience. You can find the form here. Thank you!
As we start to near the end of our Lenten journey, now is a good time to check in with yourself and your family. Did we stick with the things that we committed to do in Lent? Did we make time to renew our prayer-life, give alms and fast? If you have had trouble or fallen away from the things you committed to, make a point to recommit this next week and during Holy Week. Make time for Jesus to reveal himself to you in the quiet moments this week.
Finally, thank you to everyone for your support of our recent service projects! We had a great response for both the Easter bags and the Ham-bassador drive for the St. Alphonsus food pantry. I want to shout out Ms. Temple, Mrs. Schermetzler and all the third grade students for their work on the Ham-bassador program and what I know will be a great service project!
Stay safe and have a great weekend!
Russ Johnston

Home & School Happenings
Where Does All the Money Go?
Have you ever asked yourself "What happens to all the money collected from the Home and School events?" Continue reading and that question will be answered!
Each year, the Home and School Association's largest revenue-producing event is the Fun Run. Prior to the event, a decision is made between the Home and School Association and school administration as to what project they would like supported, and this year it was needed safety updates (prior year projects included the library and science lab renovations). The proceeds from the 2022-2023 Fun Run were able to provide approximately $29,000 in safety updates throughout the school.
Net funds (funds in excess of the cost to provide the event) generated from other Home and School events such as the Cookie Walk, Book Fair, Dine Outs, Fun Fair, etc. are budgeted to be used or have been spent in the following areas:
- Cougar Outdoor Extravaganza Day
- Staff Appreciation Week
- Hospitality (providing meals for staff during in-service/conferences/etc.)
- Classroom funds (each classroom was allotted $300 to purchase needed items)
- Library materials
If you are further interested in the finances, updates are provided at every Home and School meeting, which are scheduled to return during the 2023-2024 school year. Additionally, you can reach out to Julie Klimczak, Home and School Treasurer, via email here.
The Home & School Association would like to extend a big thank you to Julie Klimczak for all her hard work, bookkeeping & guidance with the H&S funds. Organized finances allows H&S to support both practical and fun things to help improve our school. We are grateful you are willing to share your time & talent with us--thank you, Julie!
