Volunteer Highlight: Chris Gibson

If you've ever visited the Living Legacy Center at an event or volunteer day, you might have come across the welcoming smile of Chris Gibson (pictured here with the LLC's Elizabeth Hilbun). Elizabeth said, "He is our number one volunteer. He shows up rain or shine and helps in the garden and mowing."

How did you connect with the Living Legacy Center?
I used to be Elizabeth's neighbor. We kept in touch and when she has an event, one of their volunteers gives me a ride and I go over and help where I can.

Why are you always sporting Texas A&M colors?
My father went to school there. When he passed away, I kept his 1959 yearbook and I like to support the teams and watch their games when I can.

When you see Chris feel free to introduce yourself. He's quick to offer a hand and say hello and loves chatting about Texas sports. Thank you, Chris!
Event Report: Victory Memorial Garden groundbreaking

March 12, 2022: Beautiful weather blessed the morning and the gathering of volunteers, supporters, and board members at the Living Legacy Center.

They met there to formally kick off the beginning of the construction for the Victory Memorial Garden in the field behind the Center's main building. After an introduction by Elizabeth Hilbun and a blessing, the local high school volunteers worked in the Oasis Garden while Curtis LaMontagne and Neal Traweek used tractors to begin clearing the land for the Victory Memorial Garden.

The Victory Memorial Garden is meant to be a place of tranquility and fellowship where visitors can honor past loved ones. Hilbun took inspiration from the Bible in committing Victory Memorial Garden and resources of the Living Legacy Center to fight loneliness, isolation, desperation, and sadness.
