From the Desk of Mr. Johnston

Dear St. Alphonsus Catholic School Families,

As the month of May marches on, we had another great week at school!

We had our 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students attend a musical on Thursday, the 4th Grade class went to visit Madison and the state capitol today and tonight is the annual Fun Fair at 5:30!

I know we are all excited and glad that the night of Fun Fair is finally here, but I wanted to thank the group of parents that came together and organized this event this year. I want to particularly thank Dawn Eisold, Peter Klimczak, Jennifer Rekowski, Sheila Quinette, Doug Burgau, DeAnna Rezutek and Julie Bates for all of the hard work over the last few months to plan and put on this great event. Thank you also to anyone and everyone who volunteered to help out and make tonight happen. It truly is a team effort!

Also, last Friday we were able to celebrate our student-athletes at the Athletics Association Banquet. This was a great evening of community and celebrating the work of our student-athletes and coaches throughout the year. A special thanks to the Athletics Association Board members: Joe Krysiak, Pam Krysiak, Don Lichucki, Mandy Lichucki, Rich Romero, Nick Warrichaiet, Amelia Brost and Ben Rezutek. Congratulations on a great athletics season and a great evening!

Finally, when it comes to school safety matters, I like to give families a heads-up. On Monday morning we will be having a school-safety drill. This is not a lock-down drill or an armed intruder drill, but simply a practice of our “HOLD” procedure. I have been working with the Greendale Public Schools and the Greendale Police Department to update some of our school safety procedures and we will be working more with the staff on these updates going into next school year.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend and I hope to see everyone at Fun Fair tonight!

Russ Johnston

Yard Sign Season Is Back!

Hooray! The warm weather is here! Which means yard sign season is officially back. If you tucked your yard sign away in your garage this winter, time to get it back out and spread the JOY about St. Alphonsus. We do have a few yard signs left. If you'd like one, please email Mrs. Schermetzler and she will get it to you in carline.

Thank you for supporting our school!

SCRIP introduces TRIP Bucks!

TRIP Bucks are back for the SCRIP program! What are TRIP bucks?

You can order gift certificates to give to your favorite staff and teachers. Staff can then order whatever they want from SCRIP program. This is a great gift idea for the end of the year!

All you have to do is fill out the attached form and send a check made out to St. Alphonsus SCRIP. SCRIP coordinator Vickie Major will send certificates back to you. You can then gift them to whichever staff and teachers you choose.

Also, don't forget to buy and use SCRIP cards for upcoming Dine Out Nights! You can buy Cousins' Subs Gift Cards through SCRIP and then use them at Dine Out Night so school gets a double dip.

Want to learn more about SCRIP? Check out the information on our website here. For questions, please contact Vickie Major.

Father Daughter Dance

The Father Daughter Dance was a big success!

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Father Daughter Dance this year! From those who helped set up, during the event and cleaning up after--we owe the success of this event to the help of our volunteers.

It was a great evening filled with lots of dancing, smiles and laughter!

Fifth Grade Girl Scouts Earn Bronze Award

The 5th Grade Girl Scout troop received their Bronze Award in a ceremony at MATC on Tuesday night.

The Bronze Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can earn. Each girl must complete 20 hours on a sustainable project that helps fulfill a need in the community.

Our project was to raise awareness of the Wildlife Rehab Center at the Wisconsin Humane Society. As part of our project we held a supply drive and showed the 3rd Grade Brownie Scouts ways to help & protect wildlife.

Thank you to everyone who donated items for our drive!

Congratulations to Ava, Liv, Hana, & Bella!

Dine Out Night Restaurants for 2023-2024

Do you or someone you know own a restaurant or food-related business that might want to partner with us for a Dine Out Night next year?

We will soon begin booking our events for the 2023-2024 school year and would love to support businesses that are connected to our St. Alphonsus family. Our Dine Out Nights are very well attended and drive additional business to the restaurants that are featured - a win for everyone!

If you know of someone that might be interested, please reach out to Kyla Mrazek so we can talk further.

Did you know that Box Tops are still a thing?

A friendly reminder, Box Top purchases benefit St. Alphonsus!

Today, you can find hundreds of participating products throughout the store. Scan your receipt with the Box Tops app and you’ll earn for your school with every Box Tops product you buy.

Click on the picture to get the app!

For questions, please contact Box Tops Coordinator Carrie Jurgens.

New Family Mentors Needed

The New Family Committee is looking for volunteer mentor families!

Help us welcome new families to St. Alphonsus. This is a very low-key commitment and a great way to get your whole family involved at school. We ask mentor families to exchange contact information with new families so they can have someone to contact with questions, and all mentor & new families attend a social event to welcome them to the school in the fall. Your relationship with your mentor family can be as involved as you want it to be!

If interested, please contact Dawn Eisold.
