Street Drains

A reminder for those with street drains in front of your house; please try to keep them clear of leaves in the fall and snow in the winter!

Yard Waste

City yard waste pick up for the 2025 season began on April 7th and will continue through the week of December 8th.

Acceptable yard waste includes leaves, grass, shrub clippings, twigs, and plant materials. There are three options available for yard waste disposal:

  1. Place yard waste in a trash can (35-gallon size limit) with a yard waste sticker on both sides. Yard waste stickers are available free from City Hall or the DPW.
  2. Put yard waste in brown paper yard waste bags. Please do not overstuff bags.
  3. Use a mulching mower and recycle leaves and grass clippings back into the lawn.

Kudos from the City Zoning Division

For those that attended the annual meeting you'll remember that Amanda Grenanco, the Inspector that was assigned to our area, attended and was so helpful in answering community member questions. Following the meeting share shared the note below with the Board of Directors for a job well done.

Farmington Square Board:

Your sub is doing a great job ---particularly with the native plantings and keeping up the Commons areas. That is a huge endeavor to stay on top of and one that certainly gets overlooked frequently by many subdivisions---usually until a lot of required trees come down and by then the replacement costs are astronomical. That you are staying on top of keeping the trees pruned and sprayed is something to really be commended. Keeping the phragmites out is another big thing—it’s very difficult and costly to remove it once it is established, so prevention is wonderful. Another thing I really want to give kudos to—great job keeping up on all the bike paths and filling in the cracks and sealing them before they become a problem.

I can honestly say, I am going to miss being the inspector for your sub. It was a really good section because it is so well maintained and the efforts your HOA takes to contact residents and get resolved before calling the city are truly best practices and should be replicated. The fact that you all have all the wonderful social activities is also commendable. It is like the America that I remember from childhood where there truly is a community; neighbors know each other and get together. That is something that is sorely lacking in modern times, where everyone is so isolated. You all have built the Community that is missing. I hope you can go forward with maintaining it, and instilling that drive to maintain your community, in the next generation. To quote Field of Dreams, “If you build it, he will come”. You’ve built it; that houses sell so quickly shows folks want to come be a part of your community.
