From the Desk of Mr. Johnston

Dear St. Alphonsus Catholic School Families,

In what continues to be a very busy spring, there was lots happening around school this week again!

First, I want to thank everyone who helped to make Staff Appreciation Week a success! Thank you to all of the parents and Home & School members who brought in lunch for the staff, gathered letters of appreciation from students and families and made the week fun for everyone. In addition to all of that, they also did an amazing renovation and rejuvenation of the Staff Lounge, which you can check out below! Like something out of HGTV, the whole thing took place over the weekend and the staff arrived on Monday morning to a brand new Staff Lounge. We were all blown away by the work that the parents put into this. Thank you all for a great week!

Yesterday and last night, the school and the families were treated to an amazing 4th and 5th Grade Spring Concert where the students got to showcase everything they had been learning all year in music class. The concert was spectacular and the students did such a great job! Way to go everyone! I want to especially thank Ms. Webber, Ms. Gonring and Mrs. Gutche (who was also a guest performer) for all their work to make this happen.

Finally, this morning we had our community clean-up day where our students went out into the local Greendale community to pick up litter and beautify Greendale for everyone. With our focus for next year turning to service, this along with our students going to Harbor Village are some examples of ways that we can help others in our community and spread the light of Christ.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend,

Russ Johnston

MACC Fund Dress Down Day!

Join us on Friday, May 12 for a Dress Down Day to benefit the MACC Fund! Minimum $1 donation and your student can be out of uniform.

The MACC Fund’s mission is to find a cure for childhood cancer and related blood disorders by providing funding for research! Research and research alone is the ONLY thing the MACC Fund supports. Since inception in 1976, the MACC Fund has contributed over $82,000,000 to research conducted right here in Wisconsin! Our medical partners are: Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, the Medical College of Wisconsin, the UW Carbone Cancer Center, and the Marshfield Clinic! With the blessing and oversight of an independent Scientific Advisory Board, MACC Fund dollars support research conducted at these four entities. Thanks to research, over the past 47 years, overall cure rates have risen from 20% to just over 80% today. However, the fight is far from over, and funding for research is still woefully underfunded, which is why events like our Dress Down fundraiser are so important to kids battling cancer and related blood disorders!

Cougar Outdoor Extravaganza is coming!

Cougar Outdoor Extravaganza Day is coming! This year's event will be held on Tuesday, June 6. Lunch forms should have come home to you this week. They are due Friday, May 12.

We will have more details about volunteer sign-up and the 8th grade permission slip and information next week!

SCRIP introduces TRIP Bucks!

TRIP Bucks are back for the SCRIP program! What are TRIP bucks?

You can order gift certificates to give to your favorite staff and teachers. Staff can then order whatever they want from SCRIP program. This is a great gift idea for the end of the year or Staff Appreciation Week next week.

All you have to do is fill out the attached form and send a check made out to St. Alphonsus SCRIP. SCRIP coordinator Vickie Major will send certificates back to you. You can then gift them to whichever staff and teachers you choose.

Also, don't forget to buy and use SCRIP cards for upcoming Dine Out Nights! You can buy Cousins' Subs Gift Cards through SCRIP and then use them at Dine Out Night so school gets a double dip.

Want to learn more about SCRIP? Check out the information on our website here. For questions, please contact Vickie Major.

May & June Lunch Menus

School Supply Ordering is Now Open!

Believe it or not, we are already beginning our preparations for next year, and it's already time to think about school supply lists.

We have once again partnered with 1st Day School Supplies to create our school supply kit. We've locked in your supplies at pre-inflated prices, saving you money! That’s why this year's theme is, "Buy early and save up to 30% compared to back-to-school shopping at Walmart, Target or even Amazon."

Order your school supply kit here today and save time and money. Orders will close on June 30!

Fun Fair Update!

Fun Fair Volunteers Still Needed!

We are looking for help to set up and assist the evening of Fun Fair. Fun Fair means, all hands on deck! Since a specific grade is not hosting the event this year, we appreciate all help. It’s a great chance for students to earn service hours too!

To make this event successful and fun for all, we need everyone who is going to be attending with their families that evening to volunteer in some capacity for the event.  If you have not yet volunteered for a school event this year, here is your opportunity.  Sign up with this link.

And check out all the details for Fun Fair this year below!

Grandparents Day 2023

Wednesday was Grandparents' Day!

We had an amazing time with everyone. Grandparents and VIP guests attended mass, toured the school and classrooms, and joined us for a snack and BINGO! A great time was had by all. We love our grandparents and VIPs and are so thankful for you all!

We took SO MANY great photos of our grandparents and grandfriends this week! You can check them all out in our Instagram reel here.

Staff Appreciation Week

Staff Appreciation Week was this week and what a special time it was.

The Home & School Association really treated the staff well this week, starting with a surprise re-do of the Staff Lounge! They turned our once dingy space into something bright and beautiful, a place we are happy to gather to eat together and relax. Staff were also treated to delicious food and treats all week, lovely letters of thanks, and so much more. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, thank you, thank you. This school means so much to all of us as a staff and we love our students and families so very much. Words cannot express how special you made all of us feel. Thank you so much again!

--With love and a million thanks from the St. Alphonsus Staff!
