Administrator's Corner
May 8, 2023
Hello Spartan Families!
It's a bittersweet week as we celebrate our seniors during their final week of classes. Friday will be a shortened class schedule for the talent show, backyard bash, and senior check out.
There are only two weeks of classes left before final exams, so it's crunch time - last chance to get those grades up. Good luck to those students who are taking AP exams this week.
Check out the senior art exhibition this week (details below).
Parents, the District would like to hear from you! The DPS “Your Voice/Tu Voz” student and family surveys are an opportunity to share your DPS experience. Please complete the student and family surveys by Sunday, May 14 to let us know your thoughts. Responses to the survey inform decisions on how we can better serve our DPS community. https://www.dpsk12.org/please-complete-the-dps-your-voice-tu-voz-student-and-family-surveys-by-may-14/
Next week the District will be soliciting feedback about school safety to inform needed policy changes for next year. We will provide the link in next week's newsletter, please be sure to share your thoughts.
Commencement Security Update
Given the recent events related to safety and security, DPS will be providing an additional level of law enforcement support at our high school commencement exercises. We will bring in additional security personnel and are working with the Denver Police Department to have a noticeable police presence at these events. Please know that we have heard the concerns of our students, families and staff members, and hope that you all agree that these additional measures will help ensure that we are providing a safe and welcoming environment. A reminder that there will be no school on Thursday, May 18th due to Commencement.
Have a great week, Spartans!
¡Hola familias espartanas!

Mental Health and Social/Emotional Tips | |
Did You Know...?
(En Español)
We have TWO weeks of school left before finals begin!
If your student’s grades are not what you expect, don’t panic! Some advice:
-Check your student’s grades on Schoology every few days.
-Make time at least once a week to sit with your child and have them go through the assignments on which they are working.
-If there are outstanding questions, and you can’t answer them, have your student email or talk to their teacher.
-Model some stress reducing techniques and practice self-care WITH your child
- Get outside for walking, reading, even just sitting and observing
- Engage in some art practices (drawing, painting, dancing, music, etc)
- Model talking through any problems or stressors you have, and how you solve them.
-Be realistic and keep strong expectations, but remember to stay calm and positive, even if you want to yell 😉
