Dear Parents,
I would like to give you an update on our present Covid situation. At the present time, we have 10 active Covid cases in our school. Our school population, including staff, totals 230. Even though this number represents 4.34% of our total population, I am making the decision to move into the Yellow Zone (which officially begins at 5%) on the transmission matrix found in our Back to School Safety Plan. As a result, I am requiring all students, faculty and staff to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
I am also closely monitoring the number of positive cases within each classroom. Therefore, the fourth grade classroom will be going virtual effective tomorrow. As this is an ongoing changing situation, please know that I will be reevaluating circumstances that arise within each classroom on a daily basis.
Please be aware that I take this situation very seriously. Often I learn of positive Covid cases very early in the morning and throughout the day. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding when it is necessary to let families know that their child is a close contact and needs to be picked-up and sent home.
Regardless of the precautions we take at school, the activities our families and children are involved in outside of school also play a significant role in the spread of Covid and most infectious diseases. The faculty, staff and I are asking you to be vigilant about your activities after school and on the weekends.
Please keep Mrs. Taubner in your prayers. I learned today that she has tested positive for Covid. She has not been in the office since early Monday morning. After talking with her today, we both agree that she has limited extensive contact with students and staff in the office.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.
Ms. Cooney
