Volunteer Highlight: Thao Vo

We're honored to recognize Thao Vo (pictured here in front of the shipping container, on the right). She earned a Girl Scout Gold Award for her project "Paint Me a Garden".

The project's objective was to create and beautify an art and craft area at the Living Legacy Center. Vo and her volunteers completed several tasks to accomplish this:
  • Secured funding
  • Managed both donated and purchased materials
  • Sanded the side of a shipping container and painted a mural on it
  • Built an outdoor craft area, including:
  • a table made by recycling an old door
  • seats made from tires painted to look like mushrooms
  • a ground cover of wood chips

Vo coordinated volunteers from several organizations. Besides her own Girl Scout Troop 15810, Cypress Fairbanks High School's National Honor Society and Key Club participated.

Vo did a masterful job of planning, organizing, executing, and tracking the project. Her final report chronicling the effort is worthy of a project management professional. Vo wrote this about the completed project:
With the creation of a mural and the construction of an outdoor art area along with workshops, my team provided a connection with art at the Living Legacy Center where all people can enjoy.
