The Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) Office will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2024 in observance of Veteran's Day.
The BPRYCS Office as well as the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center (DMAC) will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2024 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Registration for the next session of the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program begins at 12PM (Noon) tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5th for residents and Wednesday, November 6th for non-residents.

Rockwell Park Awarded Funding for Revitalization
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and Mayor Jeff Caggiano joined us at Rockwell Park last week for the Announcement of the Revitalization Grant Award!
Rockwell Park Receives Revitalization Funding - Watch
A $1.9 million-dollar grant from the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) Program, which matched by the city, will provide nearly $4 million dollars for Rockwell Park Revitalization in 2025/2026. Renovations will include improvements to the Rockwell splash pad, playground, disc golf course, basketball courts and ADA upgrades to the trail system and Fraser Little League Field.

Ground Breaking Celebration for Page Park Revitalization Project
Last week we broke ground on the Page Park Revitalization -
Page Park Revitalization Groundbreaking - Watch
The project is the culminating work of over 6+ years of planning, engagement and design. The improvements will include a community great lawn, playground, splash park, 4 lighted pickleball courts, a pickleball and tennis complex pavilion and shade structure, nearly 200 additional parking spaces, pedestrian walkways and sidewalks, and restoration of the Page Park Pond and watercourse. Construction for phase 1 began today, November 4th and will take 18 months to complete. Informational letters were mailed to neighbors so they can learn more about the project and construction sequence.

27th Annual Turkey Shoot Basketball Contest
Saturday, November 23rd

Chippens Hill Middle School
Ages 4 - 13 (Plus a Parent/Guardian)
Child and guardian teams will compete in a basketball foul shooting contest for a chance to win a $25 gift card to purchase a Thanksgiving turkey, along with other great door prizes! Time slots are broken down by age. This event is Free but requires Pre-Registration. Learn More or Register

Scuba Santa will be making a very special appearance this holiday season! Choose a 15 minute window where in that time frame you will have a 5-minute session underwater photo with Scuba Santa! This event is FREE with the donation of one, unwrapped gift per family to benefit our Youth and Community Services Annual Holiday Gift Giving Program Toy Drive. We handed out over 20,000 pieces of candy, were joined by over 20 insanely talented local vendors, enjoyed 8 tasty food trucks, and had a blast with countless ghouls and goblins!!! Earlier in October members of the BPRYCS leadership team traveled to Atlanta, Georgia for the National Recreation and Park Association Annual Conference - the largest gathering of park and recreation professionals in the world!
As part of the conference, Superintendent Joshua Medeiros, Deputy Superintendent Sarah Larson, and Recreation Supervisor Amry Shelby enjoyed keynote speakers, dynamic education sessions, and a resource-rich exhibit hall with opportunities to network and connect with peers from across the country.

For the third year in a row, Bristol has been recognized by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) as one of the top four agencies in the country serving populations 35,000 - 70,000. Staff attended the Gold Medal Awards Ceremony at the NRPA Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia and were honored with a plaque. | |
