Administrator's Corner

November 29, 2021

We hope you all had a great break! Here at TJ, we are very thankful to have students in-person and school as normal as possible this year. As we enter cold and flu season -- on top of the ongoing pandemic -- we want to do everything possible to keep our building open and classes in-person.

To continue giving students and staff the healthiest environment possible, we ask you to please monitor your symptoms. If you or your student are not feeling well or have COVID-19 symptoms please do not come to school.

In addition, masks must be worn over mouth and nose while in the building. Please remind your students of this expectation, as it will take all of us to stay healthy and continue the school year in-person.

As a school we are doing everything we can to keep the school day as normal as possible and we appreciate your help!

Special thanks to Jerry Esparza, Samanda Davis, Liz Lynch, Megan Perkins, Becca Mahoney, Jillian Krause, and many SkillsUSA members for all of their hard work surrounding the Thanksgiving food drive! We also couldn't have done it without the many TJ students and families who donated food to support those in need.
Based on the feedback from families and staff, we will keep the 7:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you for sharing your opinions!
The TJ Food Bank is collecting food to help sustain our TJ students and families in need of food support through Winter Break. Donations will be collected through Saturday, December 11 and can be dropped off by students in the "Food Bank Donation" box outside the front office or delivered to one of the addresses noted in the Signup Genius. Food donations needed to support our families can be signed up for  HERE.

If you are interested in making a financial contribution that will be used to purchase items, you can do so HERE.

Thanks for your continued support!

Reach out to Megan Perkins (megandperkins@gmail.com) or Becca Mahoney (beccaandjoemahoney@gmail.com) with questions!
There are many ways to show your support for the amazing TJ community during the holiday season. Thanks to everyone who donated to the Skills USA Thanksgiving food drive.

Look for a Sign Up Genius to be a Holiday Helper in the next few days. This adopt-a-family program has been a long-standing tradition. Details about how to get involved will arrive to your inbox before Thanksgiving break.

Details from last week’s PTO meeting can be found on the TJ PTO website.

We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving week!

We are looking for some help with TJ's annual Adopt-a-Family program! Holiday Helpers sign up to adopt an entire family, gifts will be for kids under 18 and the expectation is that every child will receive a gift under $30 and an article of clothing.

Holiday Helpers will be paired with a family and will be responsible for coordinating all gifts for that family....you can do all the gift purchasing yourself or recruit others to help you fill the family's wish list. Gifts should not be wrapped. Mrs. Davis will pair you with a family and send you their wish lists.
All gifts must be dropped off at TJ on Wednesday December 15th, between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. If this time frame does not work, please reach out to Samanda Davis (SAMANDA_DAVIS@dpsk12.org) to schedule alternative times. DECA students will be providing each family with wrapping paper, tape, and gift tags.
Thank you for help spreading some holiday cheer!

We have some new items in the TJ spirit store and are excited to share them with the TJ community! Email us at tjhs.store@gmail.com if you have any questions.
There are 3-4 paraprofessional jobs available here at TJ! The job would pay $15 and would be from 7:20 am-2:50 pm. Please contact the main office if you are interested.
Our goal is that all students graduate college and career ready. One of the ways we achieve this goal is to support students' career and college exploration through programs that provide opportunities for students to discover how their interests and passions might someday fit into the world of work. There are many resources to help you learn more about career and college programs in DPS, visit collegeandcareer.dpsk12.org to learn more! Handouts:  English  / Spanish
