Tomorrow will be PSAT testing for 9th graders (no school for 10-12th graders), and Wednesday will be PSAT/NMSQT for 10th and 11th graders (no school for 9th and 12th graders)

There are 3 Senior Free App days this week, so seniors, be sure to get those college applications in!

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday (in-person) and Wednesday (virtual) from 3-7 p.m.

Dropping Off Your Food Donations: Please drop off your item in Room 111

tomorrow between 3:30-4:00pm. If your item does not need to be refrigerated or heated, you can drop it off in the main office kitchen on Tuesday before 3pm. Soups, stews and chili should be delivered ready to serve in a crockpot fitted with a liner to help us with clean up. We have plenty of serving utensils so no need to bring any of your own. The staff truly appreciates your support during this busy evening.

Participate in the Easiest Fund Raiser Ever!

The PTO uses the King Soopers’ Community Rewards program as one of our annual fund raisers. King Soopers contributes a percentage of your grocery sales to the non-profit of your choice with quarterly payments to us.

All you do is enter your Rewards number each time you shop. Last year 132 TJ families participated, earning the PTO over $6,800. We use these funds to support our Teacher Appreciation program and provide funding to our Class Committees. Have you signed up yet? The October Food Bank distribution will take this Thursday, October 19 from 4:00-5:30 pm at TJ!

Conflict Resolution Art Contest

Did you know that Colorado is the only state to dedicate an entire month to conflict resolution?!

In honor of this, TJ will host our annual Conflict Resolution Art Contest for the month of October! Students, submit artwork, any medium or form is accepted, that describes what conflict resolution means and looks like to you. Winners will be chosen based on effort, creativity, and how well conflict resolution is depicted through the piece. Winners will have their art displayed at the Hampden bus stop! Other prizes as well. 

Art will be due to Ms. Lupo on National Conflict Resolution Day - Thursday, October 19, 2023.

DPS Substance Use Prevention Program Announces Fall Webinar Lineup

he DPS Substance Use Prevention (SUP) Program will continue to host a monthly webinar on the first Wednesday of every month at noon. Webinars will feature experts from the Denver community who will provide attendees with information about relevant issues that youth are facing today.

• Nov. 1 at noon: Digital Wellness for Youth and Families with Brian Dino, DPS Digital Coach.

This week we have some important opportunity days for our TJ Students.

You can give them a quick and easy confidence boost with a few simple words!

The days leading up to and the morning of:

• “I am really proud of you”
• “Try your best”
• “What can I do to support you?”
• “Go in with a calm, positive attitude”
• Maybe share your favorite moment of/with them this year
• You can write them a note of encouragement (or send texts)
• Make a poster/sign for their room or on the door as they leave for the day

Get creative! Keep is simple. They will get the message.

Seniors: In your Future Center: TJFC2024 schoology course, you will find many resources to help you with your college process. Please review the course at least weekly. A list of Scholarship Highlights will be posted weekly in addition to information about College Rep Visits in the TJFC, College Fairs, major deadlines, reminders about your next steps for college and more!  If you haven’t yet met with your DSF College Advisor, please drop by the Future Center to say hi and ask questions! 

College planning tasks from your Future Center schoology to work on now:

• Be sure to use your Steps for Complete College Applications doc to guide you. Using MAIA Learning, linking your Common App to MAIA, and completing transcript request form(s) are all REQUIRED! 
• Create your FSAID for the FAFSA application. Students and parent(s) must have an FSAID to complete the FAFSA. 
• Prepare your applications for CO Free College Application Days!

5/28/24: Graduation at 1pm at the University of Denver’s Magness Arena

Please join us October 26th at 6pm for a meeting of the Class of 2025 parent committee. We will discuss plans for the rest of the year including a Holiday fundraiser, teacher appreciation and possibly another parent party for the Spring. The meeting will be held at TJ in room 111.
