"Your stories are crucial to humanizing the challenges we face and ensuring our voices are heard by congressional representatives, the media, and beyond."
—Chair Steve Hetts, MD
| | |
Dear Colleagues,
The Academic Senate is meant to be the voice of the faculty at UCSF, and to be that voice, we need to hear from you.
As the federal policy landscape evolves, we are looking for short, compelling stories that can be shared with our congressional representatives, picked up by news outlets, posted on UC sites, and shared on social media. Your experiences and insights are powerful tools in advocating for the continued support of federal funding for research, Medicare, and Medicaid and advancing the public’s access to essential health services, research, and education.
To advocate effectively, we need your stories—personal accounts of how federal funding supports your work in research, clinical care, teaching, and service. The Academic Senate is dedicated to amplifying the human impact of policy and funding changes, as well as recognizing and supporting faculty excellence and empowering our community to engage in shared governance—which is more important than ever.
Your stories are crucial to humanizing the challenges we face and ensuring our voices are heard by congressional representatives, the media, and beyond.
Please share your stories by completing the poll on the Senate Service Portal by April 4, if possible. The poll will remain open until May 31, and submissions will be reviewed on an on-going basis. We will only share them publicly with your explicit permission. In addition, I encourage you to stay informed and take action with these resources:
Thank you for your dedication and for helping amplify the importance of our work.

Reminder: Check Out Academic Senate's Resource for Promotion and Advancement
| | |
As many faculty prepare their advancement and promotions packets in the Spring, the Committee on Academic Personnel would like to remind you about the Personalized Mentoring Advancement Promotion Module (PMAP), available through MyAccess and within the Senate Service Portal.
PMAP provides comprehensive information, guidance, and resources pertaining to advancement and promotion, with specific guidance based on Series, Rank, and Step. The module is designed for use by UCSF faculty with Ladder Rank, In Residence, Clinical X, Adjunct, and HS Clinical appointments.
An advisory council of former CAP members regularly reviews PMAP to make sure the contents are up to date. Please contact Senate Analyst Liz Greenwood with any questions about PMAP.
