Back to School Night for Parents!
Thursday, Sept. 12th | 6:30 PM
Carondelet faculty and staff are looking forward to seeing you at Back to School Night Thursday, September 12 at 6:30 pm. The evening begins in the Garaventa Center. Then you'll visit each of your daughter's classes.
Remember that traffic/parking can be difficult on this night, so please plan accordingly. T
here are new signs in the neighborhood surrounding Carondelet prohibiting parking from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on school days from Arkell to Winton Drive, which means that parents should not park in the neighborhood.
The deans will be directing cars to available parking spaces before classes begin and, afterward, will help cars and pedestrians leave campus safely.
Below you will find links for an evening schedule.
Your daughter can fill in the evening schedule with her courses or you can access her schedule via PowerSchool.
If you need to visit a class at De La Salle, wear comfortable shoes as you only have seven minutes between classes and will have to walk quickly.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone September 12!

Know Your Department: Kinesiology Is on the Move!
|
A Student Scaling an Exercise to Maintain Proper Technique in Soph Wellness
|
Kinesiology faculty are excited about the department's recent curricular changes and additions. Beginning last year, the Kinesiology department has been collaborating with the Religious Studies department to design a yearlong Frosh Wellness: Mind, Body, Spirit course. The main goals of this course is to help students establish a sense of community, explore how spirituality fits into wellness
and to teach skills that help our students know themselves, their ideals and values in order to lead a life of heart, faith, courage, and excellence.
This year, to build on this foundational emphasis of wellness, the Kinesiology Department created Soph Wellness: Kinesthetic Practices. This is an activity-based course designed to introduce students to the latest research and trends in fitness, nutrition and wellness. From stress management and sleep to overall wellbeing, students explore personal health and individual behaviors. Units of study include the components of fitness, development of an exercise plan, posture screening, fueling the body for energy, stress management, self-defense, and CPR training. Utilizing an online fitness platform, students are taught the foundational techniques of strength training that will allow them to progress to more advanced levels. Our goal is that students will gain the confidence and skills necessary to maintain their health and fitness for life.
New on the Sports Medicine front is the addition of student-athletic trainers to Carondelet athletic events. Students enrolled in the Sports Medicine Internship program work directly with CHS certified athletic trainers to gain practical insight and knowledge of the sports medicine field in order to prepare them for potential future opportunities.
