Dear Hospice Supporters,
As we near the end of the third quarter of this year, your board has continued its work guided by our strategic plan. We are strengthening our relationships with our community and our
partners, seeking guidance from the community in a number of areas, working towards expanding our staff capacity to meet local needs, moving from a working board to a governance
board, and streamlining our processes.
Save the date!! Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday, November 27th at 7:00pm. This is the meeting where we receive a report on our finances, get an update from all
our committees and our staff.
One of the important responsibilities of an AGM is electing a
board of directors that will continue working with members and partners to raise our profile in the community and create policies and overarching operational plans that will move our society forward.
On November 27th we will be electing at least 3 directors, each for a 2-year term. Time commitment is, at a minimum, preparation for and attendance at one meeting per month. There is also the opportunity for some committee work, for which the commitment varies depending on the committee and the evolving needs of the Society. If you or someone you
know is interested in taking on an organizational leadership role, please let me know as soon as possible.
As we work to get back on track after COVID, we’ve noticed that many of our former volunteers are no longer active. As an organization, we’re looking at everything we do and are making
changes where needed to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our community, as well as looking after our most valuable resource, our volunteers. Because of our records retention policy, we no longer have contact information for many of our
former volunteers. If you have previously undertaken our volunteer training and are currently inactive, we’re interested in learning why you aren’t volunteering with us at this time and what we could do differently in order to retain the services of valuable people like yourself over time.
It won’t take more than a few minutes of your time but will provide us with significant information as we continue to grow and extend our reach into our community. Please let us know if you would prefer a paper copy of the survey.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to give us your feedback. If you have any questions about anything on this survey, or if you would like to discuss its contents, please feel free to contact Cathy Fisher at president@fourtideshospice.org or Leslie Emory at executivedirector@fourtideshospice.org.
Thank you again for all you do in support of Four Tides Hospice Society. As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like further information on any hospice-related topic.
Cathy Fisher, President
