Administrator's Corner

September 25, 2023

Whew! We had a great week last week celebrating Homecoming! Thank you to Erin Thompson (counselor), Jon Poole (Assistant Principal), Anne Rice (Assistant Principal/AD) and all of the students in our Leadership class for all of the work that they did to make the events last week such a success! I also want to thank our PTO for all of their support and our amazing alumni that showed up to celebrate Coach Burns. It was a very special week that takes many many hours to coordinate and set up...we are all so lucky to have such great people that care so much about making these experiences special for our kids.

As we look forward to the rest of the semester, October Count is from September 25th to October 16th. We need all students to be on time and in attendance during this window. The actual October Count date is October 2nd in which we get money from the State of Colorado for each student in attendance.

Please remember these important dates:

October 12th: No School (teacher planning day)

October 13th: No School (holiday)

October 16th: No School (teacher comp day for conferences)

October 17th: PSATNMSQT for grade 9 - only students in grade 9 attend that day

October 18th: PSATNMSQT for grades 10 and 11 - only students in 10th or 11th grade attend that day

October 19th: Regular school day for all students

October 20th: Regular school day for all students

Parent/Teacher conferences will be on October 17th (in person) and October 18th (virtual) from 3-7 p.m. each night. More information on how to sign up for conferences will be coming to you soon, but please mark these dates as we are all in this together!

I realize that many families plan trips around the winter holiday break, please plan accordingly. It is highly discouraged for your student to miss or take their final early due to travel. For many students their grade on their final can help increase their GPA which can impact scholarship opportunities and college acceptance. Our break is relatively early this year so I am hopeful that everyone can plan their trips around the school schedule. The schedule for Semester 1 Finals Week will be as follows:

Semester 1 Finals Week Schedule:

December 11th: Normal day of school for all students

December 12th: Periods 2,3,4 (make ups in the afternoon by scheduled appointment only)

December 13th: Periods 6,7 (make ups in the afternoon by scheduled appointment only)

December 14th: Periods 1,8 (make ups in the afternoon by scheduled appointment only)

December 15th: Make ups only by scheduled appointment - all grades due by end of day - no school for students that have taken all of their finals on time.

Please email Mr. Christoff directly if there is a potential conflict regarding our Finals schedule at (mchrist@dpsk12.net)

¡Wow!
