FAES is accepting applications now until May 2, 2022 for a new fellowship opportunity!
The CARD/FAES/UMBC Master of Professional Studies in Data Science Fellowship allows qualified applicants to grow a career in bioinformatics and earn a master’s degree while working at the newly formed Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (CARD) at the National Institutes of Health. Through the fellowship, qualified candidates will receive a full-time, remunerated position at CARD while they complete coursework to earn a Master of Professional Studies in Data Science. Tuition costs toward the master’s degree are paid. This year’s awardees will begin working and learning in Fall 2022.
Detailed information and the FAES application portal for the CARD/FAES/UMBC Master of Professional Studies in Data Science Fellowship is available online. Fellows will gain foundational knowledge in data analysis and data management through collaborative instruction by faculty at FAES and UMBC currently working in their fields. As members of the research team, fellows will use and refine their new skills working with real data curated at CARD through mentored research by experts in Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias.
CARD is a collaborative initiative of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research. FAES is pleased to support this fellowship and the initiative to build a stronger, more diverse, and inclusive community in biomedical data science at CARD. If you know a senior undergraduate or recent graduate interested in data science with applications to human health, we invite you to share this opportunity with them. The deadline to apply is May 2 for the first fellows cohort to begin in August.
Join a virtual information session with staff from CARD, FAES, and UMBC to answer questions about the program. Register to attend the online session March 30 at 6pm EDT.
