FROM THE DESK OF MS. BRESLER...
Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at St. Veronica.  While many things are new, teachers, classrooms, grade levels, even a new school for some of us, the routine of school days is basically the same.  We are experiencing a new school year, but we are here with the same purpose.  This is like our new logo at St. Veronica, the look is different, but the meaning for being at St. Veronica is the same.

In every school, a student's purpose is to learn, however, at St. Veronica, we have another, and higher, call to action.  We are here to learn to be Catholic Christians.  What does that mean - to be a Catholic Christian? The answer is in our motto of St. Veronica: LIVING, TEACHING, PROCLAIMING the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We can't just claim to be Catholic.  We  have to  learn about our faith, practice our faith through actions, and proclaim our faith to others.  This will be our focus throughout the year, and we will come back to it again and again.

Ask yourself, "Are my thoughts, words and actions directed by the Gospel?"  Fr. Del's homily at Mass yesterday, spoke about how we all have aspects of a hypocrite in us.   If we didn't, we would be perfect and not in need of Jesus or salvation.  I  found it interesting that even a student as young as 1 st  grade could give the definition of a hypocrite - "saying one thing and doing another".  Fr. Del asked us all to pick one thing about ourselves that we could work on - something we could become less of a hypocrite about this year.  I encourage you to talk with your children about this and work on it together.

We look forward to seeing all the 1st - 5th grade parents tonight at the Meet the Teacher Night and 6th - 8th grade parents next Tuesday.  Both Meet the Teacher Nights begin in the church at 6:30.  See you there!!

MY STUDENT'S PROGRESS:
Our school has implemented a new school/student management system called My Student's Progress.  We will discuss the system during both Meet the Teacher Nights.  An email will be sent out next week to each family (K-8) regarding login information.  We hope you will find this new system more user friendly.

  GYM T-SHIRTS:
Student's in grades 5-8 are required to wear a St. Veronica Physical Education T-Shirt during gym class.  All 5th graders receive a free uniform t-shirt, courtesy of our St. Veronica Athletic Boosters!  If your student, in grades 6-8,  has lost or has outgrown their shirt, you will need to order a new t-shirt.  CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE NEW T-SHIRT.  All students in grades 5-8 must have their gym uniform no later than September 27th or they will be considered out of uniform.
