FROM THE DESK OF MS. BRESLER...
Dear Parents,

Yesterday at Mass, Fr. Alex said in his homily that God has a plan for each of us and that without us the world would be missing something. He went on to say that, like Jonah in the first reading, God having a plan is not enough.  We must cooperate with God for His plan to be fulfilled. Sometimes, we need to cooperate even though we do not have a clear picture of the plan, or even understand the reason for the plan.  We just have to trust that God knows what he is doing and hope that when the plan comes to fruition, we will be able to look back and say "Now I get it! God's plan was all for my benefit, even if I didn't see it at first."

SAFETY DRILL:
As part of the requirements for school safety, each school is required to have three different types of safety drills in successive years. At St. Veronica we have already had a table-top discussion, a functional exercise, including fire and/or police, and now we must have a full-scale drill using multiple agencies. So, next Thursday, October 17th, St. Veronica will be working with the EMS, and Union Township Police and Fire, to run a full-scale drill.   We will evacuate the school and head to our off-site evacuation site, Child Focus. Once there we will take attendance make sure everyone is there and safe and then we will walk back to the school building. Once back in the building, I will send a communication to all parents letting you know the drill was a success and that we are all back in the building safely. I am making sure you are aware of this in advance so no one will be wondering if it is a real emergency. It is not!

We run a drill like this for various reasons:
  • To make sure all the outside agencies can and will work together
  • To get students and teachers and outside agencies familiar with the plan
  • To look for things we are doing right and areas we can improve upon
  • To make sure our communications to parents are effective and timely
We have a plan in place where the older students will work with the teachers to help the younger students during the drill. There is no need for parents to come to the school to pick up their child or to watch the drill.  This, in fact, will hamper our ability to run the drill effectively.  Thank you for understanding and waiting patiently at home or at work to receive the email, text and phone call after the drill is over.

ST VERONICA SCHOOL SPEECH TEAM 2020
"To speak or not to speak, that is the question!"

Attention Junior High Pa rents:

Your 7 th and 8 th grade students have the opportunity to be part of STV history by becoming a member of this year's
Speech Ambassador Program.  Sister Teresa Mitchell began this amazing program in 1984 and we are proud to continue it in her honor.  The students will hear a presentation Wednesday, Oct 16 which will explain the Speech Team format to them; they will be given a handout with all the practice and performance dates listed (Jan 14 - Feb 13, 2020.)  We encourage you to talk with your junior high students about this chance to grow not only in their speaking abilities, but in confidence, courage, and self-assuredness.  These acquired skills will last a lifetime!

If you should have any questions, please email Kay Hohner Stefanics (Speech Team advisor) at   kayhohnerstefanics@fuse.net or have your students talk to their Language Arts teachers.  We look forward to another fun and rewarding Speech Team experience!
