HOME OF THE MUSTANGS ~ TEACHING AND REACHING HEARTS!
NEWSLETTER
Week of October 30
| |
Fellowship Families,
It's been a great week to be a Mustang! Our Student Council did such a great job of planning our Homecoming festivities this week! Huge thanks to all of our parent volunteers and to Mrs. Gladden and the rest of the staff who pitched in to make Homecoming magic happen. We especially enjoyed our first ever Homecoming Parade - wagon-sized! I love the creativity of our kids and staff! And our Mighty Mustang cheerleaders were amazing! We appreciate Coach Stewart, her helper, Gabby McMahan, and all of you parents who have brought your daughters to practice! Their hard work has really paid off! I think our favorite event all week was our dress-up day where the kids dressed like a staff member and the staff dressed like the kids. We will definitely have to do that again soon.
November will be another busy month! Please make sure to read the upcoming events. Our all-school Service Project will once again be putting together gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child. All of the information is listed below.
Have a blessed weekend and we will see you on Monday!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM ADMINISTRATION
PARKING LOT / CAR LINE INFORMATION
The safety and security of our students and staff is imperative. Please help us keep our carline times safe and running smoothly by following these guidelines:
- The entire driveway and parking lots are CELL PHONE FREE zones during morning and afternoon carline. Please do not use cell phones during these times.
- The speed limit in the driveway and parking lots is 5 mph at ALL times.
- Students may NOT be dropped off anywhere in the driveway or parking lots. Students must be dropped off at the designated drop off doors.
- We have designated parking for visitors (past the front doors on the secondary side of the building). Please do NOT park in the upper parking lot (designated for our student drivers) or the lot in front of the gym (designated for staff). Painted parking spots have been paid for by families of senior students and may only be used by that student.
- Dismissal time on Fridays is 1:00 pm for all students. If a student needs to be picked up prior to 1:00 pm, the school office must be notified in advance via phone call or email.

Storybook Character Parade
Tuesday, October 31
8:10 am
Our students and staff can dress up as their favorite storybook character as part of our Red Ribbon Week activities. No evil or demonic characters may be represented. PreK - 6th grade students need to bring a book with their costume for the Storybook Character Parade! Parents are welcome to stay to watch this literacy-filled celebration of our favorite books and cheer on our storybook characters! The parade will be over quite fast so don’t be late!
The parade will begin at 8:10 am. Parents can line up outside near the sidewalk at the front and sides of the school. PreK-6th grade students will start the parade on the High School side of the building (by door 6) and end on the Preschool/Elementary side of the building (by door 1).
Rain Plan: In the event of inclement weather, we will move the parade to our classroom hallways.

This holiday season we are once again partnering with Operation Christmas Child for an all school service project from October 30 - November 17.
Our goal is to provide 100 shoe boxes to Operation Christmas Child...with your help, we can easily make this happen! We will be collecting donations from October 30-November 17. Each grade will be responsible for bringing items for a particular age group (see lists below). We are asking each student to bring one item from their class list, but feel free to bring an item from each category to fill a box - we are also accepting cash donations to purchase items! Donations of any size or shoe box sized plastic containers are also appreciated. Donations can be sent to school with your student or dropped off at the front desk.
On November 17 during JAM our Secondary students will be filling the boxes (in an assembly line process) and adding notes of encouragement. Our Elementary students will get an opportunity to fill the boxes earlier in the week. The most important thing you can do is pray over the items you provide and for the child that will receive a shoe box!
Once the boxes have been processed, we will be able to track the boxes, allowing the students to see the progress of their donations. Please contact Laurie Sharp at lsharp@fellowship-academy.org for more information or to make a cash donation.

2023-2024 Dress Code
Important Updates for 2023-2024:
- Crocs are no longer allowed, even in “sports mode” (back strap around the ankle) because of the number of injuries our students incurred wearing crocs.
-
Jeans with rips and holes may now be worn on Fridays only as part of our Sweatin’ for the Arts fundraiser. Crocs also may be worn as part of this Friday fundraiser because there are no PE classes on Fridays.
- Girls in 5th - 12th grade may NOT wear leggings.
- Shorts (for boys and girls), skirts, and dresses should be no more than 3 inches above the knee.
- All students will wear their WOW Wednesday polo shirts each week.
- For field trips, students will either wear their WOW Wednesday polo shirt or a designated FA t-shirt.

VOLUNTEER POLICY
Fellowship Academy has a responsibility to the well-being of our students and has implemented a program to enhance their safety. This program consists of two components, a background check and Ministry Safe – a complete safety system designed to reduce the risk of sexual abuse.
Any person volunteering/working on the Fellowship Academy campus, at an event, sporting event (i.e. gate, concessions, etc.), substitute teaching, room helper, field trip driver or chaperoning a Fellowship Academy sponsored field trip, must complete both components to be eligible to volunteer or chaperone.
- The fee for a background check and Ministry Safe is $30.
- Background checks are renewable every three years for a fee of $25; Ministry Safe training is renewable every two years for a fee of $10.
Ministry Safe training is an online course which takes approximately one hour to complete (it does not have to be completed in one sitting). Your preferred email address MUST be provided to Fellowship Academy in order to initiate the Ministry Safe training process. Before the links to complete a background check or Ministry Safe Training can be sent, you must complete the request form (see link below).
Parents who do not have a current background check AND have completed the Ministry Safe Training will not be allowed to attend field trips. Please contact Laura Dossett at ldossett@fellowship-academy.org to check the status of your background check and/or Ministry Safe Training.
