The Giving Grocery needs your help!

The Giving Grocery, established in 2013, is the largest high school food pantry in Colorado, now serving fresh, healthy food to 200 students every week. Because of the generosity of our partners, our volunteers and the community, any South High School student who needs food may visit us every Thursday for nutritious and culturally significant meat, dairy, pantry items, and fresh produce, as well as personal care. Unfortunately, we just received some very bad news.

We are losing our largest source of funding.

In order to to continue supporting the nutritional needs of South students through the 2024-25 school year, we will need to raise an additional $120,000. We will need everyone's help to make this happen. Please forward this message to anyone you know who cares about food security for Denver's kids!

Why so many students?

We're seeing the largest number of students ever in the Giving Grocery for many reasons, including expired COVID-era SNAP benefits, increased student body of South High School, influx of new immigrants, and greater awareness of our program.

Our Amazing Volunteers

Every member of the Giving Grocery team is a volunteer, meaning that all donations can go directly toward buying food and personal care for our students. It takes 26 volunteers each week to make the Giving Grocery run smoothly. These dedicated volunteers are South parents, students, and neighbors, many of whom have been with us since the beginning. We are so thankful for their support and care for the students!

Some of the recent generosity of our community...

We have been receiving weekly donations of artisan bread from the amazing Grateful Bread in Golden.

Cathie Escorcia and South Suburban Community Church have been bringing us shampoo and body wash for years!

Bianca Barnes of West and Main Homes has been doing personal care drives for us amongst her friends and neighbors!

Thank you to some of our wonderful partners!
