E-News                       Newsletter #101                   December 2019
Dear Members,
The past few months has been a busy one behind the scenes for the Board of ALERT.  First of all I would again like to thank everyone who made our 2019 Conference in Denver a success!!  I feel we at ALERT have an often overlooked, but extremely critical role in the continued safety of law enforcement.  Unfortunately as I write this, ODMP just announced yesterday a death of a young Police Officer In Texas who was killed in a crash responding to an incident.  The officer was not wearing his seatbelt.  With Christmas only a few days away, he left behind a wife and young child.  ALERT International has a vital role in this mission, and I want ALERT to continue to work to improve Emergency Vehicle Operations training, and have its members collaborate and network to do everything possible to prevent the next "preventable" vehicle related Line of Duty Death.
Speaking of our conferences, we are excited to announce our 2020 date and location!  Tulsa Oklahoma will host our 2020 Conference September 21st through the 25th 2020.   This is ALERTS's 30th Anniversary!!  With that we are hoping this is our biggest Conference to date!  We are still working on a Conference venue and hope to have that information out very soon.  We are also considering adding an extra day of driving and presentations to make our conference more beneficial to our attendees.    I will be sending out information in the coming weeks looking for input from membership on what they want to expect and get from an annual Conference.  The more input we can get from our membership, the more the Board can plan around what the membership wants.
We are still in the process of getting our Website updated with new materials.  Again I'm asking if you have any courses, lesson plans, training, stories, or anything of interest to an EVOC trainer, please share it so we can make it accessible to members.  I continue to keep our Facebook page updated weekly with stories related to emergency vehicle operations.  I thought we could get to 1000 likes by the end of the year but we seem to be stuck at 997.  If you haven't already make sure to like us and follow us, and share with you law enforcement contacts so we can continue to get the word out about our organization!
We are looking forward to an exciting 2020 Anniversary year.  More information will be coming in the following weeks and months.  In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me  alert.president@gmail.com or any Board member at any time with any concerns, issues, or ideas.  I want to continue to improve communications between the Board and the Membership.  I am honored to have serve as your President and would like to thank everyone for their continued support as we work together to improve ALERT International and improve Emergency Vehicle Operations and Officer Safety for all of law enforcement.
Please continue to stay safe, and have a Merry and Blessed Christmas and New Years with your families!
Geoff Bush
ALERT President
