Dear Parents,

This week I have often been hearing the word kindness around school. As an educator, this makes my heart sing! At the end of the day and 10 years from now, what our students will remember most is how Park Maitland made them feel, and knowing that kindness is in the fall air around school makes me feel hopeful.

From our third graders creating their own masterpieces to add to our “Kindness Rocks Garden” to many of our students receiving “Kindness Pals” in homeroom, we are focused on the true meaning of the word. This has sparked great conversations regarding kindness, friendship, empathy, and the differences between these concepts and the gifts of all three. The students are very excited to make new friends and deepen their already existing friendships. By being intentional about building these skills, we are helping our already amazing children to develop habits that will last a lifetime--not only personally but in all aspects of their lives.

It is exciting to see our students grow everyday both academically and emotionally, whether on campus or online. I continue to be overjoyed to be back with our students and feel blessed to be surrounded by such kindness. Thank you for the warmth and kindness you continue to show to our students, faculty, and one another. We appreciate your support so much!

Online Academy
One 2nd grader was lucky to find Frog at the bookstore! He found a way to connect with the story, Frog and Toad are Friends, that all the children in second grade read over the last two weeks. These students have been writing everyday on these wonderful stories.
In art class, students online were also finishing up their Young Master's Project this week. These artistic creations make great keepsakes and unique, heartfelt gifts for the holidays! More on this soon!
On-campus and online students are loving Mrs. J's 'Kindness Pals!' Students each week are paired up with someone new in their class. Through interviewing, games, and conversation starters, students are encouraged to get to know each other in a fun and personal way. We are so happy to see our kids expanding their friendships!
