This week I have often been hearing the word kindness around school. As an educator, this makes my heart sing! At the end of the day and 10 years from now, what our students will remember most is how Park Maitland made them feel, and knowing that kindness is in the fall air around school makes me feel hopeful.
From our third graders creating their own masterpieces to add to our “Kindness Rocks Garden” to many of our students receiving “Kindness Pals” in homeroom, we are focused on the true meaning of the word. This has sparked great conversations regarding kindness, friendship, empathy, and the differences between these concepts and the gifts of all three. The students are very excited to make new friends and deepen their already existing friendships. By being intentional about building these skills, we are helping our already amazing children to develop habits that will last a lifetime--not only personally but in all aspects of their lives.
It is exciting to see our students grow everyday both academically and emotionally, whether on campus or online. I continue to be overjoyed to be back with our students and feel blessed to be surrounded by such kindness. Thank you for the warmth and kindness you continue to show to our students, faculty, and one another. We appreciate your support so much!
