On April 3rd, Healthy Living Matters and our partners participated in the Healthy Living Matters Advocacy Day for the Texas 85th legislative session.
The day was filled with meetings with State Senate and House offices. HLM advocates
discussed legislation pertaining to physical activity, early childcare, and overall child health and well-being.
The successful day started with a briefing for capitol office staffers to educate them on the policy priorities and legislation important to the HLM Collaborative. HLM then disseminated folders throughout the capitol to share the HLM executive summary and a list of supported bills.
HLM Advocates with Representative Alma Allen
The day concluded with a personal meeting with Representative Alma Allen who spoke on the importance of HLM's work and how it benefits Texas families. HLM would like to personally thank Representative Allen for her hospitality and continued support.

Healthy Living Matters at Cigna Sunday Streets - Spring Branch
Recently, the Healthy Living Matters team was invited to participate in the Cigna Sunday Street - Spring Branch Celebration. The HLM team enjoyed a great day of activities with community groups, many focusing on health. HLM was also able to speak to community residents about the great work being done by our collaborative.
Families were interested in learning that HLM is working to fight childhood obesity at the policy level. Working directly with the community is cornerstone to the overall mission of HLM. We were happy to participate and look forward to future community-centered events.
