We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and joyful holiday season with family and friends! - Your MAFP Staff

Board Dinner & Strategic Planning Session

The MAFP Board of Directors and some of our Past Presidents met this past weekend at the Old Capitol Inn to review our strategic plan for 2025-2027, discuss legislative issues, and set the budget for the 2025 year.

The weekend started off with dinner for the board and their spouses on Friday. To keep with our nutcracker theme, Dr. Vanderloo dressed in his nutcracker suit--which wasn't complete without his nutcracker top hat. Attendees took advantage of the Old Capitol Inn's gorgeous tree as a photo opp backdrop during cocktail hour.

We kickstarted Saturday with our Strategic Planning session and wrapped up the day with the MAFP Board of Directors Meeting. During the Strategic Planning Session, we took brain breaks to keep everyone active-and in true MAFP spirit, the fun flowing!

Our brain breaks included an intense battle to become the MAFP 2024 Rock Paper Scissors Champion and the 2024 MAFP Best Blind Artist. Although there were many great participants, only two could win. Dr. Stephen Hammack emerged as the Rock Paper Scissors Champion and Dr. Jennifer Gholson finished as our Best Blind Artist.

It was a fun, but productive weekend. Thank you to our MAFP Board of Directors and Past Presidents who spent the weekend planning and laying the ground work for the next three years. Family medicine is stronger because of you and your dedication to our specialty.

Apply to Attend NCCL As A Delegate

Wednesday-Saturday, April 23-26, 2025 Kansas City, MO

What is the NCCL?

The NCCL is the AAFP's leadership development event that empowers a select group of change makers to catalyze positive change in family medicine. NCCL will inspire you to build on your leadership skills and create a lasting impact for current and future generations of family physicians.

NCCL constituencies include:

NCCL constituencies include: women, minorities, new physicians (in the first seven years of practice following residency), international medical graduates (IMG) from schools outside the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, and LGBTQ+. The conference offers and opportunity for members to voice their individual and group perspectives.

Are you ready...

to develop skills to advocate for issues that are relevant to your constituency, your practice, your specialty, and your patients?

The MAFP is seeking physicians to represent our chapter and serve as delegates to the AAFP National Conference of Constituency Leaders. You must be a practicing physician or graduating resident to attend.

This is a great opportunity for upcoming leaders who want to get involved in state and national levels, a great opportunity to network with family docs in other states, and a great opportunity to develop resolutions that shape AAFP policies. Delegates will be reimbursed for travel and accommodations for the meeting.

If you are interested in being a delegate for the MAFP in any of the above constituencies, please contact Caley Dawkins at publicawareness@msafp.org.
