What's New at Woodview

β€Š

On May 11th, we attended the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce Mayor's Breakfast with newly elected Mayor Andrea Horwath. It was a great opportunity for networking, learning, and engaging with local business and government in Hamilton!

On June 12th, we welcomed Ontario’s Minister of Children, Community and Social Services Michael Parsa and MPP for Burlington Natalie Pierre to Woodview! Thank you for visiting and for wanting to learn more deeply about our mental health and autism services, it was a productive discussion!  Heartfelt thanks to the families who came and shared your stories. You’re the reason we exist!

On July 24th, we welcomed MPP Natalie Pierre back to our head office. We appreciated Ms. Pierre's genuine interest and commitment to learning about the mental health and autism issues affecting families in our community. We look forward working together to break down barriers!

From our Blog: Woodview Experiences the Brantford International Villages Festival

By Nicki Straza, Engagement Lead

One of Woodview’s priorities is to know, understand, and care for our clients in an effective, meaningful, and culturally sensitive way. Theresa Vidal (EDI Coordinator) and Nicki Straza (Engagement Lead) have teamed up to find better strategies to do just this! This past summer Woodview was proud to be an official sponsor of the 2023 International Villages Festival in Brantford. This festival celebrates some of the many incredible cultures present within the Brant County Area with traditional foods, dances, songs, and cultural education from many different regions of the world. As representatives we had the opportunity to attend several of these celebrations including the Italian, Muslim, Indian, and Filipino Villages.

Woodview is proud to offer PreVenture, a mental wellness program for youth (age 12 to 18 years). The workshops help teens get to know themselves better, set long-term goals, and learn new skills to help achieve their goals.

The program recognizes the importance of individual

differences in how youth understand and cope with dif-

ferent types of life challenges. PreVenture is tailored to different personality and coping styles so it can be more relevant to youth’s own experiences.

Thursday, October 19th *AND* Thursday, October 26th

4:30 pm to 6:00 pm

241 Dunsdon Street #Brantford

The first step is to fill out a brief survey to match youth with the workshop that fits their interests and personality style best.
