Whether as a country or you personally Alzheimer's is a vey likely to be the cause bankruptcy and economic ruin in coming years.
Here's a few quick facts:
-
Memory care at a decent facility right now casts $4,000-$6,000/month for one person. It will be higher moving forward.

Medicare does NOT pay for this expense.

Medicaid (you have to be broke to qualify) may pay for half if you can get it.

Waiting list to get Medicaid assistance can be up to 5 years.

Alzheimer's is the number 6 cause of death in the country, now.

"Granny dumping:" is now a thing. Dumping grandma with Alzheimer's at the emergency room of the hospital with no ID so the hospital will take care of them for a while. This costs hospitals millions of dollars a year.

Caretakers of Alzheimer's patients end up in the hospital at a very high rate due to stress. Creating two patients where there was only one.

Alzheimer's patients often have multiple other health issues. But due to memory issues they don't take their medication correctly and can't communicate about their condition. Making every visit to the hospital three times as expensive as same age patients without Alzheimer's.

One in every 5 Medicaid dollars today is spent on Alzheimer's. There are "only" 5 million Alzheimer's patients in the US today. By 2040 it will be 14 million diagnosed cases. Florida alone will have 750,000 by 2033.
Since no cure or even drugs to slow down the disease exist research is our only hope. It worked with HIV/AIDS, Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Heart Disease. Deaths from those four diseases are all on the decline; deaths from Alzheimer's is up by 71% since 2000
.
With an administration that is anti-science (see their stance on Climate Change) coupled with slashing domestic spending this issue may slide under the radar and ruin us all.

Our Cancellation Policy
To avoid problems in the future here is the policy:
1. All registration fees are non-refundable.
2. If a participant cancels from a workshop more than 30 days prior to first day of a course, they will be given a credit, less a $1,000 transfer fee to be used toward another workshop. They have 2 months to use the credit from the date of the cancellation after that there is no credit or refund.
3. You can only transfer once then the credit is gone.
4. There is no credit if you cancel less than 14 days prior to the first day of the course.
5. If you register online credit cards will be charged immediately.
6. You can only register for an individual course with a credit card. we accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express.
7. We do not "reserve" spaces in a course. If you have not paid with a credit card you are not in the course. |
