Newsletter - January 30, 2026 | | There's Still Time To Join Us! | | |
Theme: Our theme this year is There’s No Place Like The SIP. We are showing the legislators that MAFP works to educate, train and retain family physicians in Mississippi to improve the health of all Mississippians.
We are excited to combine our efforts with The Mississippi Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the statewide professional and child advocacy organization dedicated to the health, safety, and well-being of infants, children, and adolescents to bring awareness to family physicians and the work you do.
We currently have over 50 attendees with 37 of those being our residents. We are thankful our new physicians realize how important advocacy is to their specialty.
There is no cost, but you must RSVP in advance to let us know you'll attend. Please register today at the link below.

Doctor of the Day on Capitol Day!
MAFP Past President Dr. John Vanderloo will serve as Doctor of the Day at the Capitol Medical Unit during Capitol Day. We will tour the Medical Unit during the capitol tour.
Every day during the legislative session, the Capitol Medical Unit is staffed by a full-time nurse and a volunteer physician who provide basic medical services to legislators and capitol staff. As a Doctor of the Day, you’ll see firsthand the everyday operations of the Mississippi Legislature and be recognized on both the Senate and House floors at the opening of each day’s session. Volunteers can choose from a half day on Monday or Friday or a full day on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
The Doctor of the Day program is sponsored by MSMA. Sign up below.

| | Meet Your 2026 MAFP NCCL Delegates | | |
The National Conference of Constituency Leaders (NCCL) is where family physicians from underrepresented groups come together to lead and inspire change. This year’s conference will take place April 23–25, 2026, in Kansas City, MO, bringing together passionate physicians to develop leadership skills, advocate for key issues, and shape the future of family medicine.
NCCL constituencies include: women, minorities, new physicians (in the first seven years of practice following residency), international medical graduates (IMG) from schools outside the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, and LGBTQ+. The conference offers and opportunity for members to voice their individual and group perspectives.
Our delegates will represent you—amplifying your voices, concerns, and ideas at the national level. Through policy discussions, networking, and education, they will work to strengthen our specialty and improve the lives of both physicians and patients.
We are proud to take a full delegation to this year's meeting! Join us in supporting them as they step up to lead!
