KNP Konnections

From Our Editor, Nancy Allenby

"MAY IS THE MONTH OF EXPECTATION, THE MONTH OF WISHES, THE MONTH OF HOPE" - Emily Bronte We certainly have wishes and expectations in our hearts as we prepare vegetable seedlings for Tray it Forward, as we co-sponsor energy savings workshops throughout the region, and as we get ready for our annual KNP summer get-together! Keep your eyes on Better Impact for LOTS of great opportunities to connect with neighbors. As always, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who is involved with KNP for keeping us HELPFUL and HOPEFUL as we continue to impact the Kearsarge Neighborhood.

Save the Date

WE WANT TO CELEBRATE YOU! A huge THANK YOU to our volunteers, community partners and donors for ALL you do for KNP. Please mark your calendars and be sure to join us from 5:30-7:00 pm on Friday June 20 at the New London Historical Society Phillips Barn. We look forward to treating you to a very special evening of good food and drinks! More information coming soon.

KNP "Seedlings Fund" Program

A THREE-YEAR MINI-GRANT PROGRAM will allow KNP to fund projects proposed by individuals and organizations in the Kearsarge region. Ideal projects will be replicable or have the potential to be scaled up if successful, so that their impact can multiply. They will also have a designated element of reciprocity, giving those helped by a project an opportunity to contribute back to the community. We love fostering a "seedling" of an idea that can grow over time or in other places! Click here to see the application and read more about the program. Please email us if you have further questions.

"Better Impact" is Better Than Ever

THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE SIGNED UP as members or volunteers through Better Impact (BI), KNP'S new communication system. The "News" section of your BI page will continually keep you updated and informed. If you have NOT signed up, you will no longer receive emails with volunteer opportunities, so please make sure your application is completed. If you need help filling out the BI membership form, please call KNP's volunteer coordinator Beth at 603-317-5900 or email.

NH Saves: BUTTON UP Workshops

HOME HEATING AND COOLING can definitely challenge New Hampshire neighbors! KNP and Kearsarge Climate Action will continue to co-sponsor NEW HAMPSHIRE SAVES: BUTTON UP free home energy workshops throughout the Kearsarge region to help us understand how we can increase our comfort while saving money and energy. We co-sponsored a March event in Wilmot and an April event in Warner. Be on the lookout for information on future opportunities to learn about electric savings, utility incentives, rebates on appliances, insulation, and energy audits and weatherization. Can't attend a workshop? Click here to see a PDF of the workshop presentation.

KNP Annual Poster Campaign

WE WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT KNP EXISTS! KNP offers so many ways for neighbors to connect with neighbors. Putting up posters throughout the Kearsarge region allows us to tell the public about KNP. Posters let folks know they can VOLUNTEER in lots of different ways and that HELP is available when it's needed. Please look for a note from Better Impact in early May and volunteer to put up KNP posters around YOUR town!

'TRAY IT FORWARD'

MAY 30 IS THE BIG DAY for the 6th Annual Tray it Forward vegetable seedling distribution sponsored by KNP, Kearsarge Food Hub, Colby-Sawyer College and Spring Ledge Farm. The effort supports folks in our region who need a little help growing fresh, healthy food while experiencing the many benefits of gardening. If you know someone who has barriers to growing their own food, please click here after May 1 to register for a tray of vegetable seedlings.

YOU can also SPONSOR A TRAY so that a neighbor can receive vegetable seedlings free of charge. Each sponsored tray will be generously matched one-for-one by Spring Ledge Farm. Check out Better Impact for notices about all the group opportunities to transplant seedlings, bag compost and other tasks to get ready for our May 30 distribution day.
